Hello everyone. I've been lurking on the forums for awhile and here's my first real post.
Went wheeling in Virginia Beach the other weekend and got stuck and thought, "Gee, if I only had a winch."
A few days later I have a Viper Max 13,000lb winch and a Bud Built hidden mount. Another forum member, gshadow325, had a new Bud Built mount he sold me at a good price. So, thanks Shadow!
There are other posts on here documenting the install and I can say I ran into some of the same issues everyone else had. Nothing major, just enlarging some bolt holes and grinding of some support plates to make things fit. Like the other posts said, you will need to pick up some Grade 8 bolts from a hardware store since the stock bolts on your rig aren't going to be long enough. No instructions are included with the mount, but I figure if you're doing the install yourself, you're a pretty smart guy--or gal--and can figure it out. It's not rocket science.
I did clock the winch so the engagement lever tilted backwards so it wouldn't interfere with things.
All in all, the install went well and only took about 4 hours including modifying things and clocking the winch.
I haven't wired it up yet. I plan to mount the control box someplace under the hood and need to fabricate some sort of bracket.
