bug shield

Just installed mine this weekend, its the Toyota OEM, will get some pics up soon. very floppy out of the box, but once its mounted its pretty solid. ($120 at the dealer, i coudlnt wait for it LOL)

Come to think of it, my sport was certified and it has some marks on the end of the hood where the paint had come off, looked like stone chips not sure, it looks as if it had a bug sheild installed before as well as i can see sticker marks where those plastic bump guard things where stuck on the hood... maybe it was a canadian one like the other user said, it vibrated alot ?? Because the OEM one i just installed doesn't touch any part of the hood at all it's fitted on brackets??

Anyone know where to get those little rubber bump guard things? I might put some on my hood just incase?

I use to have one, but I took it off due to request on here and now I'm happy that I did, because I think it looks better now... mine was a Weathertech and it was terrible..

Progress and I almost have the same rig but heres a picture of mine.

It's a Weathertech, and I couldn't be happier...it doesn't vibrate at all! :bigok:

Who makes your grill guard/bull/push bar?

Just got a Weathertech of my own, and I couldn't agree with you more!

If you have an 06-08, don't get Weathertech, it comes loose at least once a month...
I guess I'll find that out shortly then. I haven't even had it a week yet. Still strong after almost 1k miles though.

And what brand is your grille guard??

It is "Hunter", i got it from e-bay for $75.00 shipped.
I also made some changes to it: made extra mounting points (through the grille), added another cross pipe on the bottom.

Yeah mine came loose at least once or twice a month, or any time I did over 80.. lol

ive got the same factory model as - annoyed has, looks slighty narrower but has strong brackets & sits farther off the hood so theres no rubbing or chipping. my highlander has the avs, it looks good, sits at a much lower profile ,but has plastic anchors & smaller hood bumpers, it seems to vibrate loose after awhile, & needs to be retightened. (careful not to over tighten & strip the anchor threads) either way, i was gonna get the avs for my 4runner, but after a side x side lookover, im glad i went with the factory model.

a lil off topic but i got my bugshield put on.. sorry been so busy to upload pics but i got an avs and I am happy with it...

do any of yall have the in channel vent visors i have some of those on order too

well guys ...finally got mine ...$47 including shipping....good deal ain't it?

I couldn't vouch for the Weathertech at the time because I had only just purchased it, but after ~6 months and well over 10k miles my Weathertech is still doing great on my '08. No vibrations or loosening. I'm very pleased.

took me a while to get to used to mine, which came installed already. I have the original Toyota and love it. Up until the purchase of my T4R I wasn't big fan of the shields, but they do help. Sucks to be stubborn sometimes.

Went with the Toyota one and it's help up well. No vibrations or anything.

However, the #1 thing to prevent those rock chips - 3M clear bra/armor. Stuff is wonderful.
