build date?

Hey everyone,
I was wondering if anyone knew how i could find out when my 4runner was built? I opened up the hood today and saw some dead cicadas. Since they were only around during early summer I'm thinking the car had been sitting in the lot a very long time.

Also i noticed that the roofrack on my black 4runner seems to be a different shade of black than the car.

Lastly, I noticed that the tweeters in the cargo area are really really soft sounding. I had to press my ears up against the tweeter really hear the sound from it. Is this normal?

any comments on these problems will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

First off, you have one loaded truck, it's almost impossible to get the options you have over here.

You can check the month/year that your car was built by looking at the label on the driver's door jamb. Open up the door and look at the right side, there should be a label with a barcode, the vin number, build date and color codes. It only tells you the month and year, but not the actual date.

I'm pretty sure a differen't paint is used on the roof rack. Since all SR5's use a black roof rack, I don't think they tried to match the color with the black exactly. This is also true for the Sport/Limiteds in that their silver racks don't match up with the silver paint job completely either. It's probably not too noticeable though, right?

I don't have the JBL system, so I can't tell you if the speakers in the cargo area are normal or not.

thanks!

Hey tkr128,
Thanks for replying, I appreciate it. Yeah, I was lucky to get a fully loaded sr5, they had to go to another dealership about 45 min away to find my vehicle. About the roof rack, I didn't even notice the color difference, my dad actually pointed it out to me today. Its really not that noticeable unless your looking directly at the two, but I just wanted to make sure it wasnt just a flaw on my vehicle. About the JBL speakers, I'm reading on the Edmunds.com forums and many people have complained about the very low and bad sound from the JBL, especially from the rear. Maybe I'll replace it with better stuff when I get money.
