Hilux Field Monitor Install!!!!!
Finally got around to installing the FMU!
Took me around 4hrs, but mostly because I had a hard time figuring out where all the wires were, since I don't have the sunroof on my 4Runner. Most of the guides are for sunroof equipped 4Runners, so, I hope these pics can help out a bit.
First off, I repainted the FMU, since it had some pretty bad scuff. Chose Krylon black plastic paint as a base/primer and Krylon Sand camo for base coat.
Came out lighter than I would've liked, but it matches well with the headlinder, so, gonna leave as is for now. New panel (top) and stock (bottom).
Started by removing the stock sunglasses holder. Couple screws and I was left with this. Since I don't have a sunroof, I don't have the blue plug most of the write-ups have, I had to find alternate wires to tap into.
Before routing the wires, you need to know which ones need to be extended. Here's the plug for the FMU.
Here's the ID/function of each wire and my comments in red of what I did.
From Yotatech's Rock Slide:
-Blue/Yel to constant 12 Volt - Tapped to Blue/Yel wire for overhead lights
-Whi/Red to Switch 12v (ignition) - Tapped to Gray wire on 12V outlet behind center console
-Grn/Org to Speed sensor - Tapped to Blue/Gray wire for on ABS module (only wire like this on module)
-Blue to outside air temp sensor - Routed cable through diver side door and fender to Blue wire on sensor
-Yel/Blk to outside air temp sensor - Routed cable through diver side door and fender to Yel/Blk wire on sensor
-Whi/Blk to ground - Crimped ring terminal and bolted between FMU and roof bracket
-Green to dash clock (illumination) - Ignored
-White to sunroof switch light dimmer - Ignored
-Blu/White to sunroof switch light dimmer - Ignored
I removed the cover panel on the driver's side...
... as well as the center dash trim.
Removed A-pillar trim and started routing the wires.
Gray wire behind 12V outlet on center dash trim panel. Thanks for the idea [MENTION=84917]GreenbowCounty[/MENTION]!

Here's the ABS module for the speed sensor wire tap.
The Blue/Gray wire is what you want.
Check!
Here are the wires going to the sensor.
That little black box to the left of the fog lamp is the sensor. Had to use a zip tie and double-sided tape to mount it since the tab was a little damaged.
Did not take a pic of the ring terminal or constant 12V (can take in the future, if I decide to repaint a darker color). 12V is that wire hanging when I removed the stock sunglasses holder. Ring terminal just sits between FMU and the bracket visible in said picture.
After all is said and done... here's the final product!
