Did you get a new sway bar end-link? I noticed the one on the right looks brand new. If so is it Toyota or aftermarket?

That rear bumper is pretty cool. Are you going to do something with that exhaust tip, I'd suggest getting a Tundra TRD tip $72.

Completely new front swaybars, bushings and all. They were after market from rock auto. Maybe 5 vials each.

I have not thought much about an exhaust tip...I think I will leave it alone for now. I know it's kind of an eye sore but I like to think of it as my trucks brown eye.

Changes the wheel color again...

I need you to vote. I like the new color much better than the graphite, but not sure if I like it as much as silver. Take a look and let me know what you think.

I think the closer to the trim color, the better. I like graphite, but on your color combo I think there would be too many different shades competing with each other. 2nd best would be to match the body.

I'd say go with gloss black since you have a factory black body, black rear bumper, and your future front bumper will be black as well.

Big news!!!!

Well fella's, I've got good news...I GET ME CAR BACK!!!!

That's right. I bought my wife a 2012 Subaru Outback 2.5i Limited.





And best of all...




So now I can do whatever I want to my old friend as she is once again all mine. :bravo: Here is the first mod. Just got it in the mail today. I went with a little bit bigger one than what most of you guys seem to be installing. Mainly because of the Texas heat.



Also I get to finish and finally attach the swing-out to my rear bumper. Should be fun. The possibilities are now endless. :boink:

4.56 gear ratio?? Unless things have changed in the last 40 years, we use to check gear ratio this way. Block front wheels, jack up rear of truck at the pig just far enough to clear both tires from ground contact. Put tranny in neutral! Mark drive shaft with chalk, mark tire at bottom with chalk. Now turn the tire slowly exactly one revolution by hand! While rotating tire, count the number of turns the drive shaft makes. Visually, 4:56 should be 4 1/2 rotations of the drive shaft. Hey Josh it's been a long time but I think thats how it worked!
Somebody else chime in here if I'm wrong!:thumb3: I at least hope you can do that with a 4runner and I didn't just make an azz of myself!

Thanks bud. It's the first "New" car either of us have ever had. We knew that's what we wanted and that body style is hard to come by used. They all had high mileage and were close to the same price we paid for a new one. We got a great deal.


A little update. I got around to modifying the swing-out arm and hitch pin to attach it the the bumper. I had to buy a metal cut off wheel for my grinder bc I only have diamond blades. Here is what I was dealing with...


Here is how I addressed the issue...




I also had to buy a 3/4 drill bit to drill out the rubber bushing on hitch pin side of the swing arm bc they didnt quite line up. Next I took a 3/8 drill bit to the hole in the hitch pin to be able to accommodate the bigger lock. After touching up the powder coating I was good to go...

It has been a little while since I have updated this thread. Thought I would throw some things up here as to what i've been up to.

New head unit and Cobra 19 CB Radio installed.


Changed out rear diff, transfer case, and front diff fluids.


Fixed oil leak (pretty simple, tightened bolts around the valve cover. They were hand loose)


Continuous 12v power mod. I should have don't this long ago. This was always one of my pet peeves about 4runners. Didn't know this existed. Super cheap and easy to do.


Replaced the burnt out lights on the A/C control display and buttons.



Also replaced the LBJ & inner/outter tie rods with Toyota parts, no pictures. It was pretty straight forward. The upper ball joints are in my parts bid waiting to be put on.

Last but not least I've done a little wheeling. I got pinned up against a barbed wire fence twice, lucky for my the only thing that got damaged(badly) were the fenders which are plastic and easily reparable. I'm just glad that none of the fenders or doors were even touched. The only metal body parts that were even scratched was the rear hatch above the tail light.
