Not sure why I haven't been getting notifications from the site but I just went to your site and I just want to say coming from someone who's a web designer/graphic designer, you did great job with it! Its simple and clean and everything flows together nicely and has a nice personal touch to it that makes it unique to you!
Thanks for the light bar write-up, made install a breeze!

On your differential breather mod would it work using a nippled tee fitting underneath connecting both hoses and then running one hose from there up into the jack area?
Great thread and mods, my favorite.
Hey! Yes, you can run them with one line from my understanding. I just wanted to be extra weird and run separate lines.
Thanks for the kind words :thumb3:
I did not use the supplied relays, as the startup power to the HID's is similar to the standard headlights that the 4Runner uses, according to Xenon Depot. I also did not need to reverse the polarity either. It should be plug and play, very simple and straight forward. Let me know if you have questions!
Good luck!
Hey MTN4RNR, I enjoyed your eclipse report. Proof that a little adventuring doesn't need to take a week.
I saw mention of your forthcoming suspension upgrade, which got me thinking about options for my own "2016 MGM Trail Premium - KDSS." I trust you will let us know what you picked and why...?
Hey! I'm glad that you enjoyed the write-up! That is one of the points I have been trying to make the whole time I have had my 4Runner; a little goes a long way.
That being said, I am quite excited to upgrade my suspension setup with something that will perform much better than stock both off and on road, all while increasing ground clearance and reliability. I will be doing an extensive article on my website regarding suspension upgrades, and everything I considered before pulling the trigger on my new components. I'm currently drafting the first version of the article, hoping to have it up once I return home next week. But in short, it's a mid-travel suspension setup with upgraded upper control arms, rear springs, lower links, and shocks with remote reservoirs (no adjustment knobs). I wanted to increase clearance and travel, but I won't be "maxing out" the 4Runner lift capability at 3". It will end up between 2" and 2.5" front lift. I will go into a lot more detail in the article :thumb3:
Just this week, I got my HIDs installed, following your amazing write-up. Made the drilling much easier, although it was painful to spend $44 on a drill bit. Oh well.
Your build steps are fantastic and I thank you so much for being the guinea pig and teacher.
Quick question -- I ran my Xtreme HIDs without relays, as you have. No problems but when I'd done this in my 2015 Outback, folks recommended the relays. Running without is a cleaner install but I want to make sure it's not going to overtax existing wiring or anything of that nature. You did yours some time ago. Any issues since?
Thanks again!
Such a tease!
OK, time to address this. So far my design has held up well to punishment. Loaded, over 500 miles off road, and about 15k miles total. In the coming month or so, I am going to be contacting a few companies to see if there is any interest in producing my design. I will keep y'all updated with new information as it comes. I have been quiet about this project because as many of you know, I am an attention to detail guy and I wouldn't feel right producing or helping product something that wouldn't stand the abuse that I originally designed it for. And seeing as I designed it myself with many hours of thought into structure and function, it would be a direct reflection of my own quality and reputation that would be at stake. So hang in there. Thanks!
Any updates on this?
I was wondering from a practicality standpoint of how tall you are and if you are able to stretch out back there? I was thinking about this and wasn't sure how comfortable it would actually be for someone over 6 feet tall. Thanks!
Damnit! Now we can no longer use your rig as an example of how capable a stock T4R is and why one doesn't need to swap out suspension right out the gate. [emoji6]Tomorrow is going to be a big day! With 37k on the stock suspension, I have worked my ass off for an upgrade and soon it will be MINE.
