I just installed my set of XenonDepot HIDs this past weekend and had no surprises thanks to your write up. Was even able to order the larger step bit in time to make it smoother.
I've been lurking for quite a while until I recently got my Runner and yours is a big inspiration of some things I want to do!
And add me to the list of those interested in the rear platform!

Rolling into the new year, I am going to be reviewing logistics on this project. I have spent the last few months rattling the crap out of it looking for weak points, hence the delay. I need to design the pieces in CAD to optimize production, so through the holidays I will be working on this. This isn't my full time job, and each one will be hand cut/assembled as I can schedule it. I'll keep y'all updated with my progress. For now, here's a photo of my platform v1.5 :naughty:
I am finishing my water tank platform as well this weekend after running it in the mountains this weekend. A few more tweaks and it will be done!

Upcoming trip report
We spent the weekend in Plumas National Forest, north of Lake Tahoe in search of a non-GMO, organic, pasture raised Christmas Tree. As you will see later when I post the report, I am waiting for photos of the trip to come back with one of the guys that was in the group. He still has his camera and won't be back until later this week, so I will need to wait to write the report. More on this soon... :thumb3:

Update on the Death Valley Trip Report
So, this trip report turned more into an article for a 3rd party publisher (I hope). It's taking a bit longer to go through the editing process which is why you haven't seen anything here on it! I will post it as soon as I can however there might be other content that goes first and gets things out of an in sync timeline. Oh well :cheers:
150 miles off-road on rocks, dirt, through dust and changing terrain. Death Valley 2016 in the books. Check back for a trip report in the coming week.

Great! That drill bit makes a world of difference cutting through plastic.

Death Valley - November 2016
My trip report for the Death Valley Adventure has been posted on my Adventure page on Expedition Portal. I will be posting trip reports on that page from now on, with my build being updated here. I will still post here with a link and a few photos when I have a new trip report up, but cross posting reports with 5+ posts per report (because of the 20 image limit) is pretty exhausting. I feel like I am one of the few guys that wheel the 4R to it's potential on the stock suspension. It has been pretty freaking amazing so far, and I have gone so many places that myself and others didn't think I could. One comment I get all of the time is "I cannot believe how capable that thing is!" That being said, I am very excited to upgrade my suspension in the spring. It will open up new possibilities for trails, but most importantly, I will be much more comfortable off-road. While I get to many places stock, it's usually at a slower pace, and with a lot more bumping around than my friends with upgraded suspension. I am happy to say that I have wheeled the crap out of it, and it always puts a smile on my face!

I'm in the same boat! I've been holding off while I trickle in other upgrades, and while I decide what I'm doing for armor and heavy accessories, as well as waiting for the BP51 4R-specific kit to be released and my budget to allow it. You've been an inspiration that it's okay to be low for now.
Sure my skids probably get more abuse than they would if lifted (the stock fuel skid was kissing my tank...) but the 'Runner hasn't been the limiting factor in the stuff I've wanted to do.

What water tank is that? I was thinking of mounting one to my rack with a gravity fed hose.
Also, what antenna are you running for the HAM? I didn't see it in the recent pics.
And...I can't stop staring that that pull out table. It's boss level :thumb:

My 5th gen is the first lifted rig I have had. All my previous 4runners and one jeep have all been stock, and they took me everywhere I needed to go. The lift and tires make it slightly more capable, sure, but the big benefit for me, is everything is just so much more comfortable and easy, which is really nice.
Your truck is looking really good man. Nice cargo build, sleek and to the point.
I thoroughly enjoy reading your trip reports and I'm probably going to rip off that tailgate light idea. That's clutch dude.

He's one of the main reason why I have not lifted mine yet but in due time. As for the lift gate light, I did mine not long ago and it's hands down one of my favorite mods out of all the mods I've done! So useful and creative! You won't be disappointed!

Either King or Fox shocks/coilovers. Likely a medium duty spring in the rear, with Califabrication lower links, and either Total Chaos or Dirt King upper control arms.
