Thought I'd give a submission for CBI hybrid rear. The picture of it on here never shows up for me so I dunno if you have one or not.

Hey,
This is the way MY bumper was supposed to look but Perkins Buggered it up so bad and wont make it right... who knows? maybe they took it off of their site. I don't see it either- in fact I did not see ANY rear bumpers for the 3rd gen 4 Runners.

if you are looking for a nice bumper I believe shock works makes what you want. I had them make my front bumper and I'll tell you what. I could not have been happier. Shockworks is the way to go.

Did you ever get your rear bumper fixed? What did Perkins say?

Hey there,
in order for them to say anything they would first have to answer the phone or return calls.

of which they have done neither.

I have left messages with the receptionist. I have sent them emails. I have even left messages on the owners cellphone. Not one call back have I ever received. The last call(all very polite- like I was asking him for the hand of his daughter) I mentioned that I am getting pretty sick and tired and are looking into a lawyer- still nothing. I actually did and sadly although the principal was the main objective it would have been almost $ 2500 to get the ball rolling.

So now I just live with it. when people ask me where I got the bumper I tell them the entire story and if you want it done right I tell them to go to Shockworks.

*another note when you go to their "redesigned" site they don't seem to have any bumpers for the 3rd gen anymore either that or I missed it..

^^^ this is not the first issue i have heard of with perkins, another member on here had a issue with them and their poor customer service(im using that therm lightly/loosely here). he ordered a bumper for his 4th gen, they made him the wrong bumper, then took their sweet time making a new one -the right one and it still had some flaws, the hoops were cut too short and they tried to fill the gaps with welds... ect and they again took forever shipping it and only gave him back like $100 for being almost 2 extra months on the bumper. my advice is stay away from perkins. go to CBI or shrockworks if you want a good custom bumper done right with good customer service

I am not happy with them at all. You would think that if more people complained they would try and get their act together. No worries now- what's done is done. I was so annoyed that I almost had it removed and was going to go with Shock works. Then take the perkins bumper and throw it thru his front window.SW did a beautiful job on my front bumper. It took me a long time to get used to the Shock works people telling me how long it took after I saw the finished product I understood why- you cannot rush craftsmanship. on their behalf they did manage to install the loops and cut in the hole for the Lights. I should be thankful for small favors. I'm told that he was having marital problems not my issues man.

I am going to see if I can change my Sig to reflect How I feel about Perkins NON PERFORMANCE.

Just stay away from them

On the front bumpers, what is everyone doing with the turn signals mounted in the bumper? I see on the plate bumpers, they are being retrofitted/replaced, but what about the tube bumpers? I am thinking of building front/rear bumpers for mine some time this year and am starting to gather all the materials now. Thanks for the replies in advance-

I think it depends on the bumper and if you have a spot that you can weld/mount something for the lights. You can use the existing hardware of the turn signals to secure the signals to a mount that you make pretty easily.

Well after about an hour's worth of searching I'd like to verify; is ARB the ONLY aftermarket bumper option that offers a crumple/crush zone ("airbag compliant")?
