Well I had myself a pretty busy Saturday working on the ol' Runner, here's how she looked two days after purchase:
So since then I've plasti-dipped the grille and rear hatch pieces and had good results so I went further and did the door handles and center caps, pretty much convinced myself to do the entire wheel but we'll see how that goes.
Here are the handles and center caps after the dipping and pre lift:
next I installed a daystar 2.5/1.5, not that big of an issue, especially after reading all the write ups and suggestions on here. Here we go after the daystar install:
Absolutely love the look with the lift, later on down the road I'll probably go with OME's up front Toytecs in the rear and Bilstein's all around but for now this was in my budget.
Next went step by step with a write here and blacked out my headlights, the look I got from the old lady while putting the headlight in the oven was priceless! Turned out good I think:
also went with a set of spidertrax 1.25's to widen the stance and give a little more aggressive look:
and last but not least, the simplest mod of the weekend:
the beloved Hilux Surf Trash Stash!
Couple of notes I will end on: The Daystar install was pretty straight forward, definitely would recommend two sets of hands and a good long cheater bar. Also there has been discussion on here in the past about Daytsar kits and what will work with what, Well I purchased my kit from another member here and it was KT09124BK as listed for an 07-09 FJ well it works perfectly with the 4 Runner, no problems whatsoever, It was the easy install kit so no spring compressor needed. Hope you guys like it, it's still a work in progress, got to mount my Hella's and find a good roof rack, really want the Gobi but I highly doubt I can afford it anytime soon.
