Busy Saturday! Lift installed and more (pics)

Well I had myself a pretty busy Saturday working on the ol' Runner, here's how she looked two days after purchase:

So since then I've plasti-dipped the grille and rear hatch pieces and had good results so I went further and did the door handles and center caps, pretty much convinced myself to do the entire wheel but we'll see how that goes.

Here are the handles and center caps after the dipping and pre lift:

next I installed a daystar 2.5/1.5, not that big of an issue, especially after reading all the write ups and suggestions on here. Here we go after the daystar install:

Absolutely love the look with the lift, later on down the road I'll probably go with OME's up front Toytecs in the rear and Bilstein's all around but for now this was in my budget.

Next went step by step with a write here and blacked out my headlights, the look I got from the old lady while putting the headlight in the oven was priceless! Turned out good I think:

also went with a set of spidertrax 1.25's to widen the stance and give a little more aggressive look:

and last but not least, the simplest mod of the weekend:

the beloved Hilux Surf Trash Stash!

Couple of notes I will end on: The Daystar install was pretty straight forward, definitely would recommend two sets of hands and a good long cheater bar. Also there has been discussion on here in the past about Daytsar kits and what will work with what, Well I purchased my kit from another member here and it was KT09124BK as listed for an 07-09 FJ well it works perfectly with the 4 Runner, no problems whatsoever, It was the easy install kit so no spring compressor needed. Hope you guys like it, it's still a work in progress, got to mount my Hella's and find a good roof rack, really want the Gobi but I highly doubt I can afford it anytime soon.

The headlights look pretty good! It's kinda dark/overcast so it's hard to tell how dark they really are but I like them. I've always wanted to do the blackout headlights but can't sack up enough fortitude to actually take em off and do them haha.
Great work!

Yeah, pics aren't that great, only had my iphone handy at the time, I used Krylon for plastic black spray paint on them, it's actually a pretty easy mod, all except for that one bolt that every write up talks about it is a PITA to get to, got a nice bruise on my forearm from contorting it inside the wheel well to get to it, other than that it went smoothly.

since you plasti-dipped the grille, any thought to doing the lower bumper, mainly the recessed part between the fogs?

Looks great! On the front lift, did it use extensions for the three bolts on top? I know you use to have to have a spring compressor to install longer studs.

ASR,
He had the newer spacers that came with the stud extenders, no spring compressor needed.

Looks good man, you didn't waste any time getting in the Mod mode lol.

That would have taken me a month of weekends to work through.

Best regards,
Doug

i have been thinking of platidipping the lower bumper, but since I plan on adding a black bullbar it would be covered mostly anyhow.

And as Doug said I had the easy install Daystar kit, so no spring compressor was necessary, just stud extenders with the top spacer. super easy once everything is apart, my biggest worry was stretching an ABS wire and throwing a code.

looks good. I installed my DS this afternoon. I love it. I can't wait ill tomorrow to get some better pics.

I do like the looks of it for sure!, Guess I'll be buying a few more cans of plasti-dip now!

Thanks guys. I am probably going to go with some BFG Rugged Terrains.

I like the look of the lower part being painted as well.
