Buy '16 or wait on '17

Hello all, Looking for some advice. There is a 2016 TP spec'ed just the way I want (Mag Gray + KDSS) sitting at my local dealer should I pick it up or wait a few weeks for a 2017? I would wait for a '17 if the TRDP came in Mag Gray...

I dont think there are any notable differences. You should be able to get a better deal on the 16 right now. Im in the same boat but the only 16 i can find in the color i want had a bunch of crap i dont want. Id get a 16 in a heartbeat if i could workout a good deal on it.

How long do you plan to keep it? If a year or two, it might be worth it for the '17, gotta do the math.

I saved the cash and went with a '16...but plan to keep it till value is not a concern really.

Get the 16! If it's exactly what you want I definitely wouldn't wait. Where you are it could be different, but around me 4runner TE's don't stay on a dealers lot for more than a week! Plus you could possibly get a deal this time of the year. Some kind of incentive or extra thrown in! Like mentioned before, if you are gonna keep it long term I would definitely get what I wanted in a 16 and wouldn't think twice about it.

I like the '16 TE over the '17 TRD Off Road because of the '16's lack of badging. Also, there are black accents on the TRD Off Road wheels that I'm not a fan of.

sales do slow down now however in a few weeks you may not get a really good deal...good time to buy now , and its exactly what you want.

I was in the exact same position, I wanted TP w KDSS and nothing else -> I chose to go 16', save a few grand (and didn't have to pay more for a sunroof). You will not find many in that configuration, if they have it, go for it.

I always de-badge...so 'trd off road' vs 'trail' gets me nothing other than the fake carbon fiber inlay and TRD headrest

I pickup my 4runner at the dealer tomorrow!

It really depends on how picky you are. Some people settle for something or features they do or do not want because they are more concerned with price. I would have never gotten my TEP the way I wanted it configured in my region without special allocation so waiting until now with the hopes of getting what I wanted would have left me disappointed but with a nicer monthly payment.

If you luck out and see a '16 that has what you want then jump on it.
