Buyer Beware: Outlaw Offroad

My brother had the unfortunate experience of leaky DR coil overs. DR gave him a loaner set of coils to install while they fix his under warranty and also remove the internal droop limiter that has come with all of them free of charge. But, here's the interesting part. He paid a local Outlaw Offroad in Irvine CA to install all his work, which I urged him not to (Dumb ass) and today while pulling his old CO's I noticed a few things. First, they did not lube his TC UCA's at ALL!! He was always asking me why his truck squeaked so bad and now I know why. Second, they had the DR spacers that are on the lower CA, in backwards. Explained why his sway bar was near rubbing the coil. And, they had an unexplained washer on the driver side Lower CA bolt!? I checked mine and no washers, when we took his passenger side off, no washers. Does that sound right to you guys? On top of that, either the dealer or Outlaw (which would worry me more) never bothered to reinstall his second skid plate. Unfortunately my bro is a bit of a novice and I am showing him the whole way what things are and why they are there. As well as scolding him for not ordering his stuff online and letting me install for him.

Oh, and on a side note. Beat my personal record for removal and reinstall. 1 and 3/4 hours. :lol:

And another side note. Anyone ever noticed where the oil filter is on a v6 tacoma. Its way up top in the engine area and for what I could tell, no way to change without getting some oil dripping down on belts hoses and ending up in his skid plate. Which was a darn mess from the dealers doing his oil change up til now. Are the v6 4runners that way?

I feel bad for your brother and that he got taken for a ride. Hopefully, he'll get everything corrected.

As for the V6, it's the same V6 in the Tacoma, 4Runner, FJ Cruiser and '07 Tundra. There's a little nipple or spout underneath the oil filter mount/catch that's capped off by a rubber plug. Some members here use vinyl tubing to run it down to a pan/catch underneath. I just get a rectangular quart sized oil bottle and wedge it under the spout. It's a completely mess free design, if the used oil is collected. As a friend of mine calls it, a three napkin oil change.
