I think he has been run out of this forum, toyxterra, but he may lurking under a different name. Evan Neise with Xtreme Terrain Off-Road. Previously from the Iowa area and now relocated to Chattanooga, it would seem.
This is a 'Buyer Beware' post:
It looks like Evan Neise has decided he doesn’t want to resolve this like a stand-up business should, so I feel obligated to warn you all against dealing with him in the future.
A couple months ago he posted up an offer through the Atlanta 4Runner group on Facebook for a really good deal on some sliders. I can’t speak to quality, because I never got them. I did the best I could to research him on his Facebook page, Xtreme Terrain Off-Road. He seemed to have some happy customers and apparently several others in this group were also getting some, so I gave it a shot. Communication with questions was responsive and smooth, I sent him my money via Paypal (3/28), and we were on our way. I wasn’t in a rush, so I didn’t get an ETA up front. The plan all along was that he was going to send a group of sliders to Atlanta to split shipping.
The next week (4/5) I started to wonder when they would ship, so I asked him. He responded quickly and said they would ship out ‘end of next week’. Awesome. This isn’t bad at all. I even tell a friend about him, so he can get a set. Turns out he hasn’t returned any of my friend’s calls. Good for him, as he hasn’t given him any money, as a result.
Two weeks later (4/21) I send him a message wondering where he ended up sending all the Atlanta sliders. He responds back saying he hasn’t because he hasn’t received all the Fram plates. His new plan is to just send them to each individual’s house for a fair price. OK. Cool, enough. I send him my address, and it comes up in conversation that he is moving to Chattanooga. Not worth it for either of us to make that drive, so he says he will ship them. I was really excited about his move, actually. A fab shop within driving distance would be real cool.
May 8th, I send him a message asking him what’s going on with the sliders. Nothing. 2 days later I send another message. He apologizes, and says his kids must have deleted the message. He is very sorry and they will ship ‘this week’.
May 20th, still nothing, and I tell him I’m starting to question this transaction. He says they are on his trailer and he is in the process of moving to Chattanooga. Why hasn’t he just shipped them at this point if they are done?! Turns out I’m heading through Chattanooga the same weekend. I have a full load and can’t carry them, but I propose I stop by his place and he installs them. He agrees, as long as he is around, or he may drive them to Atlanta. I ask how much he wants for the install. He says he will just do it for me. Okay, this sounds like he is working with me for the delay. I’m feeling better again. He says he’ll get back to me before the weekend to set something up.
Two days later, I ask him what’s up with the plan for the weekend. He says he’ll tell me Friday. Friday comes and he says he can ship them the next time he is down in Chattanooga, but can’t install them that weekend. I plead with him to send it ‘this week’. He says he will… the same as every other time he said he would. It gets to Thursday, and I ask if he has shipped them. ‘No. The week got away from him.’ He will ship tomorrow (Friday 6/3).
At this point, I’ve lost faith in Evan’s customer service, and I’m starting to question if this will be reflected in his product. What happens if these sliders get here, eventually, and they don’t fit, or something? How much trouble will it be to get any resolution? Has he even made these, yet?
I express my concerns and tell him that the only way I’ll take delivery of the sliders is if I drive up to Chattanooga and he installs them. This way I can know if they are quality product right away and see if they fit. He says he understands and will get back to me on a good time to meet on Saturday (6/4). I hear nothing from him. And now we are full circle with him saying, ‘I told you I would ship them’.
I've made it clear to him that the only resolution at this point is a refund, and he is trying to wiggle his way out and ignore me. I’ve started the complaint process through Paypal, and we’ll see where this goes. I took a chance on the small, local business and got burned. I have recreated our interaction truthfully and can reproduce screen shots of our conversations for anyone who is concerned I am not sharing the entire story.
