Buyers beware: 4th gen for sale in CA

Just saw this post on fb about a guy with a lifted 4th gen. He states that the car has 128k miles but someone ran a car fax and they were warned about an odometer rollback. The seller has blocked everyone that asks him about the rollback and he's posted multiple posts stating that it's still for sale with 128k miles

I guess he's going on and saying he didn't know about it and dropped the price to $11.5k. If you ask him about the miles he blocks you and refuses to answer any more questions.

I tried to talk to him and he would Just tell me about how great a ride it was and when I asked about the odo he stopped messaging me and blocked me from the post. When I commented on his post he said it had 128k miles but doesn't know why it comes up at 200k but then he would block me from his post.

This is way more common than you think. I dont know why anyone would buy a car without a carfax.

I tried to buy a is300 a couple years ago and at least half had odometer rollback no joke

Even with Carfax it's not 100% accurate. A used car dealer has told me even flooded vehicles can get under the Carfax radar

He blocked me as soon as I asked about the odometer but he's been putting it up on the 4runner classified group on fb

Yeah, unfortunately this kinda thing does go on more than anyone would like to believe. Several years back I knew some guys with F150’s. They had a buddy that worked as a mechanic at the local dealership. They had him disconnect the odometer on their trucks for them until they got ready to sell or trade. I would just walk away at the moment something seemed shady. That’s one reason I keep every single piece of paper of my maintenance records. It shows the mileage and date along with the services provided. Provides piece of mind for potential buyers.
