Buying Advice 1999 4X4 w/ e-locker

To the 3rd Gen Experts,

Also, how rare are the 5 speed manuals really? I'm in no rush to buy, and could probably look for 6 months or so. I've bought too fast in the past and I don't want to make the same mistake.

The 99-00 5-speed with e-locker combination is one of the hardest to find and most desirable combinations, but you should still ensure it has been adequately maintained.

If I'm not mistaken... the 3rd gen is the 4runner with the bad frames from Dana Corp. so if it has been in the rust belt states or above that line for more then a year or two of its life then walk away and never look back. I made that very mistake and bought a rust bucket... sold it 3 weeks later and 1000$ in the can...I feel pretty lucky I didnt lose even more then that. I'm now on the third 4 runner in less then a year... who would have thought!?:toilet:
P.S. I love the 4runner and will probably never buy a different type of SUV!!Make no mistake they are rock solid

$10k is a little high; I'd say no more than $7K for it, maybe $7.5k. But it is San Diego.

Connor (4Runningdaily), BrianSD, and other members are in the SD area. All have nice rigs, that is if you exclude the puddle of ATF fluid seeping from Connor's steering rack.

4Runners are made in Japan and thankfully do not have Dana frames. That said, if you live in the rust belt and own an 18-year old truck, it would be ridiculous to not climb under it and do some maintenance to avoid rust if you want it to last.
