Buying tires need advise asap

How do the ko2 in 275/70/17 ride compared to the stock dunlops will they be louder , stiffer, mpg ?
I just put on the stock trail wheels and tires and they are quite a bit louder and stiffer than my 20's were. so needing advise , I'm buying tires tomorrow and trying to get a deal thanks . Also most of my driving is on hwy .

They should ride much stiffer on the road compared to a P rated tire (Stock). They are E rated Light Truck all terrain tires. If you want hwy ride and the best possible mpg... stick with a P. If you want to go off-road and encounter rocks..... you sacrifice some of the hwy ride, noise, and mpg.... With that said, it's not horrible. Just depends on what your priorities are. I don't mind a truck driving a bit like a truck.
 
I was very pleasantly surprised at how my KO2's handle on the road. I found them to not really increase road noise much and still have a comfortable ride. Compared to the older KO's they are vastly improved as far as road noise. MPG will inherently drop due to the larger contact patch as well as the heavier tire. That being said, it is not horrendous. I think the KO2 is a great all around tire, and also have a very high winter performance rating.
 
I like mine too. Pretty quiet on the highway. I commute 50 miles round trip - mainly blacktop and the noise is negligible.
 
I have 285s in the ko2s and they're awesome. But if you really don't off road much do the Nitto terra grappler g2, you'll sacrifice the aggressive look but ride quality is great and road noise is very minimal.
 
Or go 275/70/17 in Firestone (Bridgestone owned) load range C. Just put some on my Trail and out of the many different sets of tires I've owned across about every brand except Cooper, they rate in the top 3 in my opinion. They appear a bit more aggressive in person than in pictures, do well offroad, and are dead quiet on the road compared to the average AT tire. I'm not usually a big Firestone/Bridgestoe fanboy, but they got it right with this tire. the reviews online don't lie in this case.

They are going to be stiffer compared the the dunlops because they are Lt E rated tires. They are also 55lbs, 16 lbs heavier per tire so you will probably take a hit on mpg. The stock size 265/70 KO2 is c rated and a 45 lbs.

Stiffer than your 20s? How is this possible? Anyway, the 275 KO2s are much firmer than stock, especially noticeable over small bumps and highway imperfections. But it's really not bad. Overall, they ride nicely. They killed my city mileage - getting 13-14 mpg city, which is what my truck sees most of day to day.
 
I don't love my KO2s. Not great in the rain, not sure about snow yet. Just put General Grabber 285s on our Land Cruiser and those are D rated and ride so much nicer and are better on wet roads. The KO2s are great off road and look badass but I'm getting a different tire next time.
 
Any one tried the terra grappler g2 also I have seen post about the p metric tg g2 is a 6 ply any one know about this or the cooper at3 or atp?bany good ?

The shop that switched every thing had them at 42 I lowered to the recommend 32 and it's nice and squishy -lol

After about 6 sets of KO's on various trucks I went with a different tire for the same reasons. I liked the BFG's OK for the first 50% of the tread life (1 year) but they really started to suck on the 4Runner after 25k miles, on our roads anyway. Thus, i ditched them. At the risk of offending the KO2 crowd, I think that there are a number of good alternatives available.
 
We have had our General Grabber 285's for a short time and they are not loud and drive well on the highway but it's too early to tell how they are off-road or in the rain. They were slightly cheaper than the KO2's and look great. So far we are happy with them.
 
Any other recommendations , I really need an all train Thats rated for snow and quite on hwy , I'm moving to Idaho area in January are looking at the c ply in the at3/ p metric atp or the terra grappler g2 any have experience with any of those ? That's why I was looking at the k02 in 265/75/17

Might want to take a look at the Cooper ATW. All Terrain 4 season "snow" tire. Same as the AT3 but with additional siping. I put them to the test last week in 10" of unforcasted snow while hunting. Never spun a tire, honest. I was 5 miles from the highway and honestly was worried about getting out of the woods. This thing didn't bat an eye despite pulling a trailer and pushing snow with the undercarriage.

If you're doing mainly highway driving, E rated KO2's are complete overkill. You'll be sacrificing about 1.5 mpg compared to lighter duty truck tires/passenger tires, have increased road noise (not much though - KO2's are pretty quiet), and more sluggish acceleration....E rated KO2's are much heavier than the tires you're running now.

IMO get some highway/all terrains, as I call them, in C or D rated. Cooper AT3's would be my choice. They come in 275/70/17 C rating. Perfect for your application.
 
BFG ATs aren't great, from experiences I've had. They do a mediocre job at everything and don't really excel at anything. Also terrible in mud and tend to chunk badly if you drive on any amount of gravel. Duratracs have honestly been the best I've owned over the years. Good pavement manners, hold their own in the mud, good in the winter. Probably overkill for your pavement-centric driving though. Just get a good quality p rated and you will likely be happiest with those.
 
Thanks everyone I got the 265 7017s c ply there is only a fourth of an inch difference in the Heights and a third of an inch difference and much softer ride .
