Buzzing noise under glove box for a few seconds after cranking or swtiching from heat

Hi, i'm getting a buzzing noise that lasts about 20 seconds when i first crank up that's coming form under the glove box. I think it's something related to the A/C. For a while it didn't have any noticeable effect, but unfortunately, i tapped on it a few times with a coffee mug and now my A/C doesn't come on. Does anyone know what's going on?

I would suspect a 20 sec buzz from that area after startups to be the anti-lock brake system pump pressuring, normal on Some vehicles, toyota and other.

Now the coffee cup 'bump' on dash leading to no a/c is a True Bummer. Some electronic versions of the climate control are prone to poor soldering, the 'bump' may have taken it past its limit.

There's a guy on here that repairs them for not too much.....

It wasn't on the dash but under, if that makes a difference. It's in the passenger side under the glovebox on the left. (you can see it in the picture, that's what I tapped)

That looks like the blend door actuator. If your 4Runner has the electronic HVAC controls that's what the buzzing/clicking noise most likely is. Usually after time the plastic gear(s) inside get chewed up. You can open the thing up, rotate the big gear around 180 degrees and close her back up, plug it in the make sure it's turning. Make sure you take note of where the arm is before you open it up. If the smaller gear is chewed up it's time for a new actuator. Be careful with the big gear it has tiny electrical contacts. Someone here created a write-up of them removing the contacts and repositioning them, it was genius! You might be able to find one in decent shape from your local pick and pull yard.

Your cabin air filter and fan are down in that area. I had a leaf stuck in mine at one point after changing the filter out. Might be worth a shot to take a look for debris in the fan?

This seems to be what it is i'm guessing. I watched a couple of youtubes. I'm gonna pull it out this weekend and take a look at it, might be able to mess with it without having to buy another one.
