BXBuilt lead times in 2021

FWIW the base chrome retrofits were what I ordered to prompt this thread.

I am not sure what their current advertised/real current lead times are, but I stand by what I said in that I'd go the DIY route IF they're still 9+ months (if that is something you're willing to take on).

Current lead time according to their website is 22 weeks for both the base led retrofits and the halos/etc headlights.

I would recommend the DIY kit being it looks pretty simple and the ones I got are scratched on the inside. Want it done right in a timely fashion, do it yourself.

I got my DIY kit for retrofit source store. They are very helpful and fast shipping .

Out of curiosity - where did you source your DIY parts? (fair to assume not BX?... LOL)

Did you give these guys deposits? I'd be making an order at The Retrofit Source and building my own. I thought it was a fun project and probably costs less than half what these jokers charge.

Ha ha, Yup, definitely purchased from elsewhere . The TYC headlight housings came from Amazon (and to avoid any return hassle, I made sure they were sold and shipped via Amazon, and NOT from a third party seller). The MORIMOTO M LED 2.0 BI-LED projectors and misc assembly pieces came from the retrofit source.

The BI-LED units were $394 a pair and the TC housings were about $43 each.

Still cheaper than having somebody do them, and I can assure you I've gotten a ton of satisfaction just opening up the headlights and test fitting the parts. Can't wait until I have more time to paint and finish them.

And I'm in total agreement, they should have worked out these extreme lead times by now. Or how's about stop taking orders until they get caught up. I can think of many other industries where you make a "special order" without six-month plus delivery times. Unfortunately, not much you can do except wait once they have your money.:frusty:

Yeah, I said it months ago and I'll say it again this is the route I would've gone. Especially as one who likes to take projects like this on.

I forgot to tell you guys . I got an email saying if I want to be bump in the rush orders it was a spot left for that month . But I had to pay an extra 250.00 dollars. I don’t think that’s the right way to do it. What do y’all think ?

I’d be posting that on their social media account for everyone to see. Can’t get the customers that are waaaaaaay past their original wait period done, but they’ve got time to bump people up in line for extra money. What a shady business move on their part. Absolutely disgusting.

Sure would be nice if they simply took care of their existing customers orders who've been waiting too long as it is.

I agree as another poster recently stated... Post it on their social media page. Coming up on nine months since my order and to think they're prioritizing those willing to pay those additional crazy fees.

Greed and crappy customer service... never, EVER again!

Idk if you guys saw but flavor flav is working with them now and I bet he'll get his lights before us who have been waiting double digit months for lights. I mean I'm on 16.5 months for eagle eye housing and just a projector swap

Any updates for those still waiting? I've been in relatively regular contact with them since March (was supposed to get them mid-April) and every time I ask, I get "ohh we're still 3 weeks out" or something to that effect. I ordered mine Nov 2021 so coming up on a year now.

I kinda feel like if I had a 4R-specific Instagram following that I'd get mine sooner... I don't have any clout LOL. If I go that route I'll let ya'll know if it works. I'd rather photo dump my 4runner on social media than pay $250 to get "expedited" service/shipping on something I was supposed to get 6 months ago...

I ordered mine in DEC of last year and am in exactly the same boat. Every time I contact them I get the 3-4 week song and dance. I only ordered the basic chrome housings, so I was hoping mine might be a quicker turn around....so much for that idea.

I ordered mine on 11/13/20 and recieved it on 03/09/21. I Believe shortly after ordering my set, they started to go downhill as far as lead times.
