BXBuilt lead times in 2021

They don't care. Do a chargeback and buy somewhere else like TEQ or anyone else at all.
They are just ripping people off at this point. Half the crew was at SEMA last week, while they were pumping their stuff on Instagram and pushing sales.
They closed the entire shop a few weeks ago, and dropped a discount code at the same time....
Shady AF if you ask me. I can't believe anyone is taking these guys seriously these days.

I’m glad I came across this thread I was looking at bxbuilt for my 3rd gen before I saw the lead times. I was like surely it still can’t be that long. I just looked at TEQ but it shows bxbuilt as a projector option so sounds like it would be the same issue?

TEQ uses bxbuilt kits for their LED projectors but they still build them in house. So less wait time than bxbuilt, but they would probably still have to wait on bxbuilt for the LED projectors unless they carry some in stock.
You can also check out rvsbuilt.com for projectors. Their website is weird so you have to go to retrofit add ons to upgrade to LED projectors.
This is the response I got today when I inquired about my order placed on 29 DEC 2021....
Hey Gregory, we do apologize for the delay in communications. We have been dealing with a lost shipment of projectors and housings the last week so we do apologize. We should have the replacements here in the next 7-10 business days is what the tracking is telling us. Then we will be sending out tons of builds asap along with yours that is ready and prepped to be built. Still about 2-3 weeks out brother if not sooner.
Not holding my breathe.....

I recently got the DIY kit in the mail that I purchased with their 30% off deal a couple months back. I think I may have jumped the gun though because it seems waaaaay over my head lol. Thinking I might buy a couple aftermarket headlights to do it on since my 4R is my daily driver and I can just see myself messing up.

Pretty much the same response I got about 2 weeks ago, it's always a couple weeks out every time i ask for an update... I ordered with paypal so i dont think i have eny recourse here. Lame.
Hilariously, BXBuilt made a post on their Instagram today that was of course, a very attractive female leaning on her 4runner with a set of their lights installed. I commented on the post, asking if she had also waited 11+ months or if she got them faster because she is more attractive than the rest of us (and presumably an "influencer").
The women actually responded to the post, stating that she had purchased the DIY kit and had a local shop do the install. As I was in the process of responding to her, to thank her for the info and suggest that was probably the route I should have gone, I was blocked by BXBuilt.
I generally like to give vendors the benefit of the doubt, but to advertise a 6-9 week lead time that goes to 11+ months with ZERO communication is ridiculous.

Ok so I’ve decided to order from rvsbuilt but I don’t have a clue what all the options mean. Is there a guide somewhere? What kind of halo do I want? What the heck is rear mean if I’m ordering a set of front headlight assemblies. And then they don’t really show pics for shroud option so I am lost. I’m guessing I want chasing halos to have color… but jumps price up quite a bit. Man I just want some bright LED’s so I can see.

Im with you. I really wish Morimoto made lights for the 3rd gen....I put their headlights in my wife's 2016 and they're honestly on par with factory BMW headlights. The only reason I went with BX is they appeared to be the best of the mediocre options for these trucks and the factory lights are obviously bordering on unsafe....especially in rural areas.

I got some $35 aftermarket German halogen (yes I said it) bulbs and see everything I need to and I don't have to blind fellow drivers. If you're (hopefully) off-roading, there are all kinds of light-blast options that make sense. Spinning, multicolor demon-eye light shows are just that, and more power to you if want that, but it sounds like a pain in the ass unless you DIY the build. Damn I got old fast.....
Headlights aren't real important?....that seems silly. I'm sure your halogen bulbs are significantly better than stock. That being said, not everyone interested in LED headlights is looking for the "spinning, multicolor demon-eye light show". Some of us just want functional upgrades with properly engineered housings and cutoffs so as to NOT blind oncoming drivers.
In this case, its most unfortunate that a company seems to have come up with a solution but the demand has far exceeded their supply. And thats not entirely a bad thing, but when said company is still running 15% off Veterans Day sales with outstanding orders from a year prior, it needs to be addressed and publicized to future potential customers.
What's the interest they've earned on my $400 they've been holding since 29 DEC 2021, assuming it was invested in your average index fund?? Now multiply that by tens or hundreds of customers....absolute BS business practices.
In this case, its most unfortunate that a company seems to have come up with a solution but the demand has far exceeded their supply. I was replying to the other chap asking about halos, etc. and just speaking for myself. What you describe does suck, and I agreed a few posts prior.
Yup....were I the business owner, I might consider moving some of the staff from the media department to the production side of the house.
