Calling all Prinsu Roof Rack Owners!!

Is anyone struggling with resonance or very loud wind noise with these in recent history? Want to revive an older thread if possible, as I am getting close to buying a 7/8 Prinsu!

Unfortunately I just had to pull off my Rola basket because of such bad vibrations at highway speeds (70+), so I’m a little nervous pulling the trigger on another roof rack!

Not a 4Runner, but had a bad vibration on my Prinsu Rack on my FJ after installing. Was at about 38-40 mph. Would react like a giant tuning fork and have resonance and vibration.

Figured it was due to wind hitting the 80/20 bars with 6 different slots on each bar and creating a vibration. Completely eliminated it by using the plastic Tslot strips such as these.

they also have a rubber strip that you can use for the horizontal surfaces if you want some cushioning for any cargo.

Really looking to add a prinsu to my 4th gen but someone told me I have to drill into the roof? I have one on my 3rd gen tacoma and it bolts right up. Drilling doesnt sound right to me. Why would it bolt up to the factory roof rack holes. Can anyone confirm that?

Direct bolt. It bolts into where the stock rack goes.

Drilling is only required on the 5th gen due to a longer rack and the front factory mounting points being further back. On the 4th gen it bolts straight into the factory rack mounting points

Yes, but be aware once you put in the info to make them 47" and add the end tapping you're paying $39 per bar which is $2 more than buying direct from Prinsu. If you can live with silver hardware (which is easily replaceable anyway) these are your cheapest bars:

Hey good looking out. That's a hell of a deal. Prinsu even charges $44 for black anodized. The hardware is the least of my worries.

This is where I got my two extra bars and hardware so I could stack them for my RTT. Super fast shipping too! I was hesitant because his site isn't updated but I've sent quite a few people to T-Nutz and all was good as well. Happy Shopping!

Yes, I had to cheat the rear bar forward to avoid contact with the spoiler when hatch was open all the way.

Yep, I had put the rear cross bar in the rear of the last large slot instead of the last small slot.
