Calling all V8 owners that want a high flow Y-pipe!!! I can do it. Need your help!

Email sent. Just curious, is the MagnaFlow 93655 not a good flowing unit?

I run the Magnaflow Y-pipe with the Gibson Exhaust. Magnaflow flows better than stock (smoother merge - no pancake) and comes with CAT and got it under $170.00 shipped and cost $100 to get installed with new gaskets.

Noticeable difference in throttle response and low end (I have CAI and Gibson exhaust). Very worth while mod for the money on the 4.7L. Truck did not get any louder, but sounds a little throatier. Its stainless so there's some weight savings as well.

Thanks!! I read that thread months ago is why I asked about it. Love the URD Y I put on my 5th gen. Also wondered why no one like Thorley or URD didn't make one for the V8s. Not enough interest to warrant the dyno time I guess.

ATTENTION: Everyone go take the soccer sticker off your trucks, go get them dirty and start asking vendors like Jason B for performance parts!!!

I think people are mainly looking for a Y pipe with no Cats. But for $170 the magnaflpw Y pipe doesn't sound too bad. I have not seen it for myself yet.

That’s an easy fix with a long flat head screwdriver and a hammer

$170 is a really good deal for that Magnaflow Y pipe; considering the converter itself is around $95 and Y-merge around $30, and you still need a mandrel bend,straight tubing,flanges,and weld it all together.

You could always chop the cat off,replace with a section of straight tubing,then sell the converter to recoup some expenses.

I think Matt maybe referring to headers that don't require any welding ability or having to pay to get them welded.

Have you installed the headers on your truck yet?? If you speak with someone at Doug Thorley tech department, they’ll tel you that the guy who does all of their test fit installs says ‘the last 2 bolts are a *****’ in his notes. That’s a direct quote btw and a complete understatement

Yep, keep emailing. I talked to him a few days ago and I think he said they had about 14 people. If we get 20, we can do it!

From my first post on page 1:

Maybe you have the Doug Thorley headers, maybe you don't, but there has been an explicit need for this item for a while. I tried to get Gibson to do it, but they made it for the V6 and not V8.

Other options seem pretty costly, especially if you have it made custom. BUT, I got my guy at Doug Thorley to say he'd make them if he gets a rush of emails asking for them.

SO, if you want a good Y pipe with that isn't going to look like a pretzel like the factory and more power and ground clearance, etc, send an email here:

In the email, say you'd like Y pipe, and what year V8 4Runner you have, etc. If he gets enough emails, I can get it done and this will be most affordable option out there.

I've sold over 50+ sets of the DT headers for the 03-09 4Runner already and I know this is in demand. Please try to help out.

I know what he is talking about. I have not installed my headers because i want to do it myself... trying to find the right shade tree mechanic to help me weld them like this pic below...

I just emailed them. My tailpipe broke off the muffler so I’m planning to upgrade the exhaust now that I have an excuse. Since I already have the Thorley headers installed, this just makes sense to add in. Hopefully the price will be reasonable. If they keep it around the cost of the Magnaflow, it should be a winner.
