Calling Colorado Members

My wife and I are in need of some assistance in a couple months. We're going to be hiking the Colorado Trail this summer, and we're aiming to start towards the end of August.

We're hoping someone will be able to help us with vehicle storage, and rides. The plan is to hike from the Denver area south to Durango. That being said we would need a ride to the trailhead, and a ride back to our vehicle. We're more than happy to compensate any member for their time, gas, and travel.

If anyone is willing and able to please let me know.

Wish I could help you out. That trail is on my bucket list.

However, the Colorado Trail from end to end is easily a three month endeavor for seasoned, high elevation hikers. What is your target completion date?

My wife and I are well seasoned hiker fro the Midwest, and we don't plan on taking anywhere near 3 months for this hike. The plan is to start around mid August, and finish about 4-5 weeks later. We're only planning for 30 hiking days, and that's an average of a little under 16 miles per day.

We've talked about the AZ Trail, but never really started looking into it. After we finished the CT we're going to start looking into the Hayduke Trail, and then we'll be starting the Pacific Crest Trail in April 2018.

Awesome! Keep us informed when you do the hike. I really didn't think it could be done in that short of time. Everything I have seen said it took all summer.

I think the average time is somewhere around 30-40. Summer hiking season on the CT is around mid July till the end of August. That's just about the only time that you'll find a snow free trail. With us starting in August we're bound to be hit with some snow once we start getting towards the end.

We hiked the Appalachian Trail over a year ago in 119 days, and should be able to finish the CT in about 30-35 days.

I'll likely be around then, I live within a couple miles of the start for the CT and may be able to help in some way. Sometimes I mtn bike sections between Denver and Buffalo creek (this side of Lost creek wilderness) if you have questions on that terrain section.
