Well, then all you need to do is have a circuit that goes ground...switch...relay coil...12V+ or 12V+....switch...relay coil....ground. . How you wire them is meaningless as long as you end up with one of those two circuits.

Yep, you either use that switch to complete the ground leg of the relay or use it to provide the "trigger" power to activate the relay.

Remember, a two leg switch only is there to complete a circuit on one side of the circuit.

[MENTION=105773]busmup808[/MENTION] do you have a diagram of that dash switch or pop the switch out and check the wire colors? I'm pretty sure terminal #3 is a switched positive and the ground (terminal #1) is for the switch illumination but I want to verify first.

12V+ ....switch.......relay coil (86in/85out)....ground. Coil side circuit is good.

Don't overthink this. There are lots of ways to wire this. A picture shows only one. That's why I'm trying to teach you the logic involved. When the relay coil has current flowing through it the lights turn on. Current flows because there is ground on one side of the coil and 12V+ on the other. The switch interrupts either the ground leg or the 12V+ side. That's it.
