Camburg 4" lift spindles ...

Any 2wd people out there running the camburg or other manufactured lift spindles ? If so what UCA are you running and if it's ball joint or uniball. I noticed on camburgs website that if you run the lift spindles on the 4runner's, it's only compatible with there uniball UCA. Any input why we 4runners can't just run the camburg ball joint arms, Tacoma's can ?

I have those camburg spindles. Their powercoating sux ass. Is flaking like a *****. All components around the spindles are fine but the spindles themselves. Other than that, these spindles are beefy.

I run them with TotalChaos UCA (uniball). i just wipe down my UCA and they look like new. TC does a awsome job.

*if you do get the spindles, remember to flip steering rod upside down when installing
*inserting abs sensors into the hub = huge pita

sorry, missed your question after the large photo.... not sure why the wouldnt be compatible with BJ arms. i know when i mounted a set on my 05 tacoma, i used the tacoma OEM UCA due to the fact that i ran DR at 1" lift, for a total of 5" up front.

EDIT: i know there is a slight difference between the tacoma and 4runner/FJ OD on the BJs, maybe the shaft is different enought to not be compatible? probably best to call camburg themselves.

check out the maxtrax spindles, they are half the price. I had a set of these back in the day on my 05 tacoma prerunner when i lived in socal and it was either these or the TC $1,250 ones. i agree with above, the powdercoating (at least back 7 years ago) was a lot to be desired and i remember i had to chase all 4 hub threads to ensure i could properly screw in the bolts without galling or crossthreading. i also remember there was something to do with the ABS sensor as liqourish mentioned.

remember, 4" lift spindles will only work on 2wd truck. this is due the shifting in the mounting point such that the lower ball joint mount is right in the way of the front CVs on a 4wd.

Total Chaos as well as Max Trac suspension make 4" lift spindles. If you plan on off roading, only run the Total Chaos. If you just want height, no off road, then Max Trac is a good alternative.

Total Chaos sells for factory (balljoints taper) and for aftermarket (uniball) upper arms.

Well I currently have a set of camburg spindles and ball joint uca that I just picked up used and would like to install, just curious if anybody is running this setup with ball joints. This is something that is going to see off road use, but nothing crazy.

i think tin is running maxtrac like me and they are pretty solid. there is a different taper in the spindle for a tacoma ball joint and fj/4runner ball joint. i contacted maxtrac and they have different part numbers for each spindle. there probably is no taper and heavy duty bolt because of the 1.25 ball joint. But, I'm wondering why you would get a camburg spindle and want to run oem ball joint?

I have had the MaxTrac 4" lift spindles on for about 6 months now and they have worked well in relatively mild driving conditions (mostly on-road, some mild offroad). Install was easy for the most part (still using stock upper UCAs -- plan on upgrading to Total Chaos uniball UCAs sometime this year). The powder coat has been durable, granted, they haven't seen much mud/salt/etc. The ABS sensors and wheel bearing/hub were a direct swap... however, I don't really like the fact that the ABS sensors are relocated to the bottom of the hub, in a relatively exposed area. Earlier this year, I had an issue with my ABS system that was caused by corrosion on the connectors of one of my front ABS sensors (thankfully an easy fix). I can only assume that this was due to water intrusion, possibly because of the more exposed sensor placement.

I just installed Maxtrac 4" spindles and uniball arms about a month ago and have ran and beat the crap out of them just to see what they can handle so I have the confidence in knowing I can go anywhere and not worry about them breaking.
But if your worried or just for the F of it want a spare set to keep with you can buy two sets for the price of one the other over priced sets...so what's the question? What were the other reasons not to buy them? It's a no brainier
They are so beefy the spare set can second as great Jack stands in emergency and non situations.

Conclusion thus far ...Where to? Let's Roll. 100% confident

What do you guys recommend for the extended brake line lengths. 4" spindle and coilovers. I've been looking around but really just found one company (crown performance) that makes specific lengths.
