Is the moo the weird pulsing bee sound I hear when I shut my '96 off? It sounds like it has a heart beat of bees? It drives me nuts.

Original owner of a 1996 here and I have never heard any sort of mooing or buzzing from the charcoal canister. No one has messed with it either. Can someone put up a video? Mine does not have that silencer from the OP's pics either.

You do not have to live with it!
This is my take but you don't have to use a mustard tin, it just amused me to do so.
I used a couple of nipples to put the hose on, the tin and some jb weld:

Basically, cut hose, insert air space. Doesn't need to be big, you're remaking Toyota's now discontinued air box fix pictured on page 1.

That tin came from my dead step-grandma's pantry. She was not a nice lady and it would have irked the heck out of her to see HER mustard tin under the hood of a truck, especially as it was put there by a girl who wasn't wearing a dress and got dirty in the process. You will have to get your own nasty dead step-grandma or maybe go to the store?

I've never been known for good taste- the radiator overflow is a bike bottle sitting in a bottle cage.....

You can fix that easy with plastic weld,commonly used for repairs on hot tubs/pools amazing stuff . Think you can get from hot tub works on line

I also found a mustard tin that I was planning on using, but one of the holes I drilled got messed up so I gave up on using it. Since my hose cracked pulling it off I replaced it with I think 10" of clear tubing and I haven't heard a sound since.

Around here in the Chesapeake Bay region we prefer to use Old Bay tins. They can be accented with a red or yellow top battery and blue spark plug wires. Mmmm. Crabs.
