Can anyone get the Toyota Denso OEM oil filters from Japan?

Thought I might ask if anyone could get the Toyota Denso oil filters made in Japan, model 90915 - 20003. The oil filter that I can get at the dealer is not the same model and construction.

The made in Japan models that come on our trucks are made much better than the ones that we can get at the local Toyota dealer, maybe twice as heavy and more rugged.

Does anybody have a source that can get these? The also have the number 115010 -5010 on them.

I believe you are thinking of the 90915-20004, the Lexus/Supra oil filter that has a great reputation for being one of the best, if not THE best filter available. Dan @ American Toyota in Albuquerque stocks them, I ordered 2 cases a couple months ago and he said he had a bunch. 1 - 800 - 432 -6668 extension 8 I believe.

Chances are NO...ANY brand name filter will be MORE then acceptable. If you change your oil per manufacturers recommendations then (Fram, Purolator, Denso, Wix...etc) will give you hundreds of thousands of trouble free miles. I've personally had 3 vehicles with nothing but Fram filters that when I sold them with well over 300k miles NOT ONE burned one drop of oil....

Fram (the company everyone loves to bash) outsells the next top 5 filter companies COMBINED. If there was ANY problem what-so-ever with using Fram filters then you'd be seeing tens of thousands of vehicles (if not MILLIONS) with their engines destroyed...along with hundreds or thousands of class-action law suits.

Filters are filters. The oil/filter crazy members over at Bob is the Oil Guy Forum even ran vehicles without oil filters and the used oil analysis came back normal. Clam down and use a $3-5 filter and decent oil, change it every 5k-7k miles and find something else to waste your time obsessing about.

I only buy what ever in on sale. But I change oil every 5000 miles. So it really doesn't matter.

I'm not saying Fram is bad - I'm saying the OEM Denso Japanese 90915-2004 filter is better - if not the best available for the 2UZ.

We have one piece of equipment that we sell that basically is a pass through of digital voice data. It communicates at 1 giga bits/sec. We advertise that we will drop no more then 3 bits each minute....Our competitors sell a system that is just as fast...but their drop rate is 2-3 MILLION bits per minute.

For voice communication the difference between the 3 bits and the 2-3 million bits makes NO DIFFERENCE WHAT-SO-EVER...ZERO..NADA....For data it makes all the difference in the world..but NOT for voice. Our competitors is just as fast..but ours is better as far as dropped data...But in the long run it makes no difference what-so-ever.

The same can be said with the Fram filters....So what that Fram uses lower grade casing....Does it matter???....Prove to me it does....I say NOT-ON-BIT.....In conclusion....The Denso is probably OVER built...nothing wrong with that...but it's just marketing...Not needed.

If it was marketing than every single Toyota dealership would be pushing them when in fact, I only know of one dealer in the country who you can readily get them from.

If you're happy great - I am using either the Denso or Mobil M1209. The fact that Toyota says you can go 7500 miles between oil changes on DINO oil with that filter speaks volumes.

I already did....it means NOTHING..It doesn't show what bit how well the filter is filtering...or how long it will last....NOTHING...

I can relate to Mike in that wanted to have OEM stuff. For example, wind visors. I could get some available HERE in the states for a reasonable amount of money. However, I became enamored with the OEM ones Toyota offers in Japan. They are MUCH more expensive, but I went with them anyway because I WANTED THEM. There really isn't much justification on my purchase, it was my decision. When I tell some friends of my purchase, they say that I'm crazy. I tell them, "eff you, I like them and that's all there is to it".

The OEM filter in Japan is probably "better" in terms of filtering and stuff, but the filters here stateside do just as good a job. I'm sure there are aftermarket filters that outperform the OEM (japan) ones, but to some people, that doesn't matter. Again, I could have gone with aftermarket visor and they would've done basically the same thing, but I didn't. I consider myself anal with my truck, but the visors are a aesthetic subject rather than a mechanical one but you guys see my point?

Unless someone comes out with filtering numbers and specs, this argument won't be settled.

These arguments never cease to amaze me. The OP asked where to get XYZ product, he got his answer in like 3 posts and now, 2 pages of rhetoric later, the following has been established:

1. No one is changing their mind about the topic from when the post started.

2. Fram was bashed and then defended. See Bob is the oil guy for more examples of this.

3. It was proven that different people have different priorities for the care and mx of their vehicles. Some run top of the line and dont mind paying, others trust the over-engineering of Toyota and run whatever's at Wally World. My guess is that a) it doesn't matter, these engines go forever anyway and b) both of those types of owners are just as happy driving their trucks.

4. If you've read this far, you will never get those 2 minutes of your life back and will still do whatever you want to your truck.
