Has a skid plate under the oil pan?

I have a 2015 trail and just had the dealer do one of the free oil changes and when I was looking under it, it looks like there are mounting points for some sort of skid plate or plastic cover that covers the oil pan but mine doesn't have one.. Googling 4Runner trail undercarriage doesn't give me many results.

Anyone have any pics of a stock undercarriage?

2014 Trail, just removed my stock skidplates with Budbuilt ones... You should have two skidplates. I'd recommend putting up a picture of yours for us to look at. Keep in mind, mine is missing the plastic cover at the front in this picture...

See the two tabs in front of the oil pan... Nothing covering the oil pan. Looks like something should be there.

That's the transmission pan. No skid plate there, stock.

If you look to the right of your photo you will see the "skid plate" (cheap stamped steel).

I don't recall the engine being placed behind the front axles lol.

That is actually your transmission pan. And I noticed mine had a couple very minor dings in it when I installed my Budbuilt skids a few months ago.

Don't feel too bad... There have been a few oil service techs who drain the transmission during an engine oil change on the 4runner... They usually figure it out pretty quickly.

Those tabs on the skid plate have been the source of at least 10 posts here. It's a super common question.
