Where the hell do you live if people drive like this when it rains? Even in Louisiana, all you usually need is a semi-functioning nervous system to understand driving slower in rain. I wouldn't necessarily call that defensive driving.

Most peoples short/long term memory out here in regards to negotiating driving conditions other then dry and sunny is shorter than the time between an addicts fixes, seriously. They're far to busy not paying attention to driving anyway, much more important things to do besides driving. Another thing, it is so bad people drive their tires to metal band bald so when it does rain...

Oh and the first snow storm every year... smart drivers stay home or find another way to work.

Audi S4 vs T4R 2wd

We owned an Audi A4, 6-cylinder for a few years. Sold it about 5 years ago due to the high cost of maintenance and repairs. For example, price the replacement of a water pump. Not just the part, but the labor required.

These two cars are completely different. Different uses, performance and advantages. The T4R SR5 is a good travelling car with lots of luggage space and higher clearance. I like not having to worry about scraping the front cowling on parking lot bump stops and curbs when I park.

Yeah, I realized after I wrote that, if we get any kind of frosty weather it causes the same issues you see with rain.

It would have a different center stack with dual zone climate control, wood-grain interior trimming, heated and ventilated seats, and a completely different front end unless the dealership/owner did a complete front end swap which I highly doubt for the price or if someone is getting rid of their 2wd 4runner with only 35k on the clock would do anyway.

Also a Limited has push button start and auto up down buttons on the rear tailgate for the window.

That looks like a SR5 premium based off the pics. Softex w/o the TRD stitching on seats. No chrome bar on the front end like limited, or silver valences like TRD ORs. Also the key in the ignition is a dead giveaway, limited are push start like Cymon said.

haha I was going to say, "You should come to CA." ... inclement weather here is a light drizzle.

First sign of rain and everyone looses their shit. People speed up, accidents left right and center. No one here knows how to drive in weather that isn't sunny and perfect.
 
I agree with a lot of comments here... Personally I would pass on both of those trucks for a multitude of reasons mentioned...

There is also a lot of truth about Toyotas and resale in the 2WD department. With a 4WD, people start fighting over them, long term resale value is excellent.

The 4Runner to me is very attractive as an off-road truck, but I could care less about it as a daily driver of city vehical. I rather drive something else that is sporty and run like a Porsche Macan especially if staying with a 2WD setup.

I have a 4th Gen which is my off-road truck and a AWD 5th Gen Limited, but after getting over the honeymoon period realized I should have bought a GX (AWD V8 4Runner in Lexus trim) which is my recommendation. Its basically the same truck, but seems to fly under the radar with the popularity of the 4Runner. Often times you can find a better deal on a used GX than a used 4Runner if you find the right seller.

You can literally buy a brand new 2wd SR5 for less than that price. No idea if the XP package is real or not, but it certainly doesn’t seem like toyota offered it from the factory. Honestly, it’s a $24k vehicle now.

yes if DIY you will save money and if its hobby you will enjoy audi. I sold my 13 s5 after a few years of owning at minimal lost. Wife ended up purchasing a 17 a4 as our commuter car and I'm not really a fan of it. I was searching for a q5 3.0T or s5 with 4 doors but she liked the a4. Residual is great on the 4runner, if you want less work on the car Id recommend the 4runner. If you like audi and want a suv search for a sq5 or q5 3.0T supercharger.
 
Everyone who said to pass on the 2WD is right. A 2WD 4Runner is just wrong. It's NOT a 4Runner; it's a 2Runner!! And to add insult to injury, resale is poor.

I'd go AWD if you get a lot of rain. That means a Limited 4Runner, or if you want to stick with Toyota, the RAV4, Venza, and Sienna (though I doubt you want a minivan) also come in AWD.

I'll throw my support in for the Lexus GX...it's basically a loaded 4Runner with AWD and a v8. What more could you possibly want?! :thumb:
