I HAVE AN 02 4RUNNER, IS THERE A WAY TO SHUT OFF MY LIGHTS, THEY ARE ALWAYS ON. THE DRIVING LIGHTS ARE THE SAME AS MY REGULAR NIGHT LIGHTS.

They're called DRLs - daytime running lights. Typically, drls shine at less power. Once you turn your lights on, you headlights reach full power.
But to answer your question, yes, they can be disabled. I've done it and it works great. Just be sure to cut the correct wire:

OEM meaning, something you would purchase from a toy dealer or online wholeseller of used toy parts. Other than the dealer, try some places online or junk yards that might sell used toyota parts...that is of course if you want to stay with oem switches.
If not, the aftermarket world is full of fog light switches that could be used. I've even purchase a few fog light switches from Lowe's Home Improvement ($12 ea.) for other mods.

Long story short, I use to be a private investigator. I found it quite impossible to stay hidden while following suspects at night without being able to turn my headlights off. It was a no brainer for me to disable them. :bigok:
You don't need any other switches, wires, etc. All you need is a pair of wire cutters and a little bit of electrical tape. Just cut the specified wire (MAKE SURE IT'S THE RIGHT ONE!) and tape them off. If you want lights during the day again, just turn that knob to the left of your steering wheel!
I also find DRL's useless. But I do leave my lights on during the day. Luckily the Tacoma (and the 01+ 4Runner. Maybe 99-00's, too) has an "idiot proof" feature that turns off the lights automatically when you open the door, so that the "idiot" doesn't drain the battery in the middle of nowhere.

Thank you for posting this haha I've always wanted them off, but always forgot to actually research it. Just did it, but uh don't forget to depress the lever on top of the plug to pull it out haha I couldn't figure that out so I pulled the whole assembly out like an idiot haha even still it only took me 5 minutes.

Extend the life of your bulbs and off-road pics look awful with headlights on. You still have your lights when you need them. I don't need headlights on eight hours of driving off-road in daylight. Back before DRL the rule was, dusk to dawn and wipers on lights on. Smart drivers will still put their lights on when needed.
EDIT: [MENTION=85414]I_bRAD[/MENTION] this is only for the 4runner. My other cars I have no desire to kill the DRL's. They don't have PIAA bulbs and never go offroad. Even in offroad conditions such as Brown's Camp, we still put our lights on most of the times and turn them off for the photo's.

You know, that's a really good point. I'm pro lights-on all the time for safety, but in reality that means I never use my DRLs anyhow, I have the full system on. But that's driving in general, not just the 4runner so I never really considered the need offroad. I still think all lights on is the safest on the road no matter the lighting conditions, but I do see some valid reasons for switching or killing your DRLs.
