I had to program it with this: and it worked. I don't know if it is sensor 1 or 2 but the max temp so far has been 170 degrees.F

What transmission are you using? And good.

Make sure you ADD that PID in what to log, otherwise it won't. Also add engine temp. I can take a look and see over a trip how my vehicle is handing it, in particular, up and down large mountains.

I have noticed the engine temp is rock solid. I see very little variation. The Trans will fluctuate a bit, but not much, and never really high.

Also. I have come to the conclusion that 89 gas is a waste. I was sampling data from the two, using timing change as my main calculus. I will work with MPG, but that is SO hard as driving style is a larger impact.

But. I see the same timing modification with both grades. 87 and 89.

I just don't think the engine gives a crap and 87 is fine for just about everything. Next time I need to tow something heavy. I am going to run the two grades to see how that impacts it.

Just got the Torque app and BT ELM off Amazon. Seems to be working great so far...wish I had a few more PIDs that worked.

I noticed that my Transmission Temp and Coolant Temp readings are just about the same. Where or at what points (gauges/PIDs) are these readings?

I've also noticed that my Torque app gives me "Trans Temp 3" (not 1 or 2)....
What am I missing?

I believe it is the 5 speed with OD and sealed. Whichever came stock with the 4Runner.

I found the transmission temperature fluctuates and is distinct from coolant temperature after driving for some time.

There is such a thing as trans fluid too low, this is why they transfluid circulates through the radiator, to "warm" it up on initial start.

I have concluded based on thermal load... if you keep your REVS < 2K and Speed below 70 MPH, your V6 engine has as much thermal load as if you were idling. If you want your 4Runner Engine/Trans to last forever. Do the recommended maintenance and drive below 70mph/2K RPM.

Depending on my driving, my Trans Temp will mirror but not be exact to the coolant, but usually it is well below.

Regardless, I have never seen my Trans Temp anywhere near anything I would even consider bothersome.

And I am glad others have found this app. I love it. The auto logging is simply amazing. Make sure you have gone into data logging options and told it to monitor the trans and coolant. You can specify what you want it to log. I do those two, so I can see over long trips. I have found the cooling system to be rock solid.

Once my engine warms up, not matter my load or temp outside, it doesn't fluctuate but by about a degree up or down. The trans will fluctuate some, but always well below any threshold.

playing around with Torque info

Just posting a graph I made from the Torque information. I initially posted both Trans Temp and Coolant Temp, but my numbers are basically mirror images.

Nice program...probably use it on long trips and to compare how the T4R operates when I haul my boat.

What kinda crappy phone are you using? Those are literally the EXACT opposite results I have.

You can set up tiles and have about 9 or 10 different things at once. You can also move between screens, with different tiles, pretty easily. You can see real time info of everything.

You need the pay app though. The free app is just a demo and doesn't give everything. You also need to get the torquescan addon. Did you read the wiki instructions are just fritz with it and move on?

Here are some screen shots. I can literally see everything.

Edit: You can see I can also see instant timing advance. That one I love seeing. I can see a difference between 87 and 89, in terms of how far it advances. On 87, I have seen as much as in the 20's when climbing a hill.

Kinda neat to see.

I was using the free app on a crappy Samsung Exhibit II Android phone from Walmart! LOL
Actually it doesn't look too bad and I could probably display 6 gauges if they are the smallest ones but they would be too small to see unless I just display the numeric values. I don't want to tie up my phone just to read temps though so I got an UltraGauge to use instead.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but did anyone figure out the PID code for the trans temp on a 2007 V6 for torque? i followed the directions above and still got nothing. tried a few different phones but still nothing on the trans temp. any help would be much appreciated.

i've read there are issues with the bluetooth on apple. i'm not sure exactly why but the permissions aren't the same as with android.

Re-Resurrecting this thread but, has anyone tried using the Torque app, on an '04 v8? and got it to display tranny temps?

I have an Android phone and this may be the way to go. At least for me.
