Can someone explain airbags to me? For towing, not saftey.

I want to put some airbags in the rear springs in my 05' Sport, but have a question. I know they are cheap to buy and easy to install, but if you don't buy a compressor, what do you do? Just air up with an external compressor? How do you know how much air to put in?

Any other info on airbags would be great. Thanks!

Google air lift 1000 or firestone ride rite there websites will let you know what there all about. Also Chris has a good rite up on here as well.

Well, seems as though airbags are a no brainer for rear sag. It was either that or FJ springs, but I'm thinking airbags now.

Out of curiosity what are you planning to tow? The airbags will help with sag but that's about it. If you are towing a long or heavy load you may want to consider a weight distributing hitch (not for boats) and sway control. Transferring some weight to the front axle will balance the load and help steering control. The short wheelbase of the T4R makes it prone to sway as well. Just a thought.

I very occasionally tow one of my girlfriends horses in a 16' trailer and my camper. Sometimes a utility trailer for work. I even find it sags quite a bit when I have all my tools in the back and 3 guys in the truck.
