Can u roll the windows down with the remote

The dealer has re-program the vehicle, stock you are right the fob will not open the windows.

Absolutely correct. Mine now rolls down all windows and opens sunroof when I hold down the unlock button on the fob. The tail gate window remains unaffected with the fob. This is super easy and was a two minute dealer programmable option.

Can I have it programmed to just have the rear window (lift gate) come down and not all of the windows?

I can see that being useful to just drop something off and go.

The quick answer is no. See my above response for what is possible. Since you have the limited though -
1.) Keep the fob in your pocket and walk up to the tail gate
2.) Hold down the "down" arrow on the tailgate (next to the word 4Runner)
3.) Load your crap
4.) Press and hold the "up" arrow on the tailgate (cleverly positioned above the "down" arrow)
5.) Tail gate window will close and the truck will also lock itslef

I asked my local dealer to enable this feature and was told

No sir toyotas don't do that
Its not a VW or a dodge
There is No way an 4 Runner has that option
I have never EVER heard of that

After showing them page 641 of the owners manual they said it does not list for specific model and it can't be done

After reading this thread here and on another website now its bugging the hell out of me! Are the service advisors at this dealership just lazy D-bags or do they owe me an appology?

Where i bought my 4runner at, the service writers are great, HELL even the shop foremen comes out and speaks to you.
He makes it a point if you are a regular and he gets to know ya, to ask hows things going, any concerns and gives you a answer that anyone can understand.
To bad the the guys that do the paper work contracts when buying arent as good lol

I had the same issue when I asked my dealer to program my 4Runner. Eventually in frustration he brought up the programming application and asked me to just point out the options I wanted. It only took me 2 seconds to point out the options in the app to roll down the windows with the remote. Wish I had known about the option to do the sun roof too or I would have added that too.

My suggestion is to not argue with them but to just tell them what you want and that they will see the options when they bring up the app. If that doesn't work go some where else. If I'm not mistaken the 4th gen you could at least roll down the back window remotely so it's not like this is something new.

I called the dealer I purchased my SR5 from and

1. The service manager appologized for the treatment at the other dealer
2. Said he was unaware of it, however doesn't mean they wouldn't at least try
3. Told me to bring it in anytime because he is curious also

The dealership I purchased my 2011 from is an hour away, but there is one 10 minutes away... I was treated excellent where I purchased the truck, and when I went in for 5K service was in and out in 20 minutes

Local place took 2 1/2 hours for 10K service WITH an appointment and were rude and blew me out the door when I asked if they attempted to enable the windows down feature

Guess an hour drive is worth customer satisfaction

Yep. Its SO STUPID that they enable the remote to roll down any or all of the windows AND the moonroof but NOT the rear window, the one thing that I would tihnk would be most useful....

That is correct. FYI, you can also choose between having the moonroof open with the windows or just tilt. We have yet (to my knowledge) to hear/find a solution that would enable the rear liftgate window to roll down with the fob.

Here's what the page looks like in Techstream. There's another option where sorta seems to suggest that the back window should go down with the remote but I haven't been able to get it to work.

Warning! Using this feature will run down your remote battery faster than normal.

You can have the dealer or Carista program in to where you stick the key into the front doors, hold to lock and rolls up all windows.
Can also program hold key in on unlock and rolls down windows.

I just got my first 4Runner. Love it, but like you said, it is maddening that the only window not able to be rolled down via remote is the rear, which is the most practical option!! Have you discovered any work arounds to make this happen?

You guys might know this already but you can roll down the rear window by putting the key in the liftgate and holding it to the left. I know you were talking about remotely but at least you can do it without getting in 4runner

Can't believe this was standard on a 4th gen, but not possible on a 5th gen, even though I know it is. The amount of cost cutting on the 5th gen is ridiculous. If I could choose between having the all the windows roll down and up with the remote or just the rear, I would pick just the rear. It is an unbelievably handy feature when you have groceries. I know someone with an Fj figured something out with an arduino board to have the rear window pop without having to put the key in the lock. Maybe this could be done on a 5th gen as well.

I had this programmed into my 2013 SR5 today while at the dealer. Rolls all 4 windows down when you hold unlock, but does NOT roll down the back window/roll the windows back up (no way to do this). Free of charge and took 2 minutes.
