Late 80-s model Runners had torsion bar independent front suspension, you have coils/struts. IFS front ends are adjustable somewhat to level or compensate for winch mount bumpers, plows, etc.

we dont install here but average shop installation price should be no more than $200

That's not bad at all.

(4)runnin'it- I think that is a spacer lift. It won't handle very well offroad.

true. Its mostly just to make room for bigger tires and thats it, if you want the most performance go with Swayaway coilovers/emu coils, Bilsteins, etc but be prepared to spend well over $1500. All depends on what you want to spend and get back in return

Yeah man. That would be a 2.5" increase. I'm not sure if 285's would fit and even if they did it there be trimming involved. I know people run 3" lifts and they have a little rubbing with 285's.

ive got a 3" w/285's and it only rubs very slightly at full turn. The 2.5" would still run them but just expect a little more rubbing than i have. Still nothing major

It would be 2.5" taller from the lift and if you go 285's you would sit about 4" taller than stock respectively

Have you thought of doing it yourself, really not that bad, its about a good day worth of work with a good jack, stands, and basic socket set. I did mine and the hardest thing about it is compressing the front coils, you can go to an autoparts store and they will lend you the spring compressors to you for free. If you buy the coilovers that are pre-assembled its really not that bad. You'll also have to pay for an alignment as well.

I've played with the idea a little. I figure as soon as I buy a jack, stands, etc... I would have surpassed the cost to install it. Then again I could use those things on future projects.

I totally forgot about an alignment. That's another $75 to add to the cost.

Talkinmonkey- I have never found a torsion bar key for the 1st or second gen Runners. They "key" differently then the way big trucks do. You might want to search in either the classic runner or 2nd gen section. I am sure there will be a sticky or thread covering this.
