Can you identify this noise?

Hey guys,

I just picked up a 05 SR5 V6 and its been great, except I have some noise whenever the suspension moves. Its a knocking sounds which sounds a lot worse in the video below then when Im actually driving. In the video I shook the vehicle to replicate the sound. The first half of the video is placed at the rear and then I move it to the front.

Ive lifted the car and tried to pull and push most suspension pieces and nothing seems loose. The previous owner just had all new KYB suspension put in, CV boots replaced and sway bars replaced, if that helps to narrow it down. It almost sounds like 2 different sounds when I change the camera position which is confusing me even more.

So interesting enough, whoever installed the struts didnt tighten those down and all of them were very loose. I thought this was the knock when I first bought it and thought it was going to be an easy fix, which it was. I tightened all 3 mount bolts down snug on one side and on the passenger side I have tightened the 2 easy ones and almost gotten the last one down. But even with those 2 snug, I dont think the noise would be because of one bolt out of the other 5 snug ones, right?

This is the one I dont think I have checked yet and will after work. I assume the track bar is close to the rear link? Its the only component im not sure about.

Interesting. The bushings at the top and bottom of each shock are in good shape?

I had what I thought was a clunk from the rear end when accelerating from a stop or coming to a stop. I thought it was shock or bushing related. Turns out that the slip joints on the driveshaft needed greasing. Even though the sound seemed to emanate from the rear end, it was coming from behind the transmission and migrating backwards.

Just my two cents.

Thanks for the suggestion. I do know what your talking about and have had "The Clunk". I greased my driveshaft to fix this issue, but this noise seems to be somewhere else.

Yea, the track bar is the bar that runs parallel with the rear axle. While under the car, give it a couple of good yanks to see if there's any movement. If it is loose, you'll be able to tell right away.

If those were loose, I'd go ahead and torque everything down that the previous owner changed again. Those specific nuts don't have to be torqued down since there's barely any room there, just snug. I think those are supposed to be 30-40 ft/lbs. Maybe the lower bolt that connects the strut to the LCA is also too loose, that's supposed to be 100 ft/lbs.
 
Im itching to start looking for the problem again after work and ill post an update. I took it for a drive during my lunch break and I notice I can sometimes feel it in my wheel. When I angle the car and go over a bump/ dip I can feel the little knock through the steering wheel.
 
Update:

So I feel dumb but Im almost positive the rear noise was gas in the tank moving around, but that still left the front noise. I lifted the car and yanked on everything and it all felt tight. The only thing that had small movement was the sway bar mount by the skid plate and it was very very small. Seems like the noise has to be the front end as I can feel it in the wheel as the suspension moves.
