Can you mount Fishing poles in a Yakima Fatcat?

Been doing some Google searching, but couldn't find any info on this.

I recently purchased a Thule Ski/Snowboard holder to hold my Ski's in the winter, and fishing poles in the summer, but I don't like the way it looks on my 4R, I feel the Yakima Fatcat 4/6 would look a lot better.

I know fishing poles could be mounted in the Thule rack, but has anybody mounted poles in a Yakima Fatcat? I'm wondering if the low profile isn't going to allow me to mount thick rods.

Or does anyone carry/mount rods any other ways, looking for some clever ideas....

Nope.. the fatcat will most likely break a fishing pole. Unile the older Yakima mounts where you just have the 2 rubber blocks that are opposite each other, the fatcat has three. And the middle rubber block fits in-between the two outer ones. Meaning old style like this:

Here you can see on the original Yakima powderhound, the rubber blocks are opposite each other.

As you can see on the Fatcat, the rubber block on the top arm slots in-between the two on the bottom.

I don't remember where i saw this. Someone had 2 rod's inside their vehicle, one in the back where the clothes hooks are. Another above the rear seats where the handles are, then laid the fishing poles above the rod's. So stored them inside the vehicle under the roof, does this make sense? I plan on doing this as well. Use shower rod's or those nice ones people use in the bed of trucks.
