Cannot Lock Doors

Hello,

When I get to my destination, turn off my 4runner, and take the keys out of the ignition the car makes a beeping sound like I have my Headlights on (Which I do not or they are in the Auto Selection)...when this happens I cannot use the lock function on my remote (My remote has a working battery in it). to fix this issue I have to start and turn off the car again until the beeping stops. Has anyone had this issue?

Thanks,
Brandon

If you try to lock the door with the key fob while one of the doors or tailgate is open, it will make a beeping noise like you describe.

It sounds like your 4Runner thinks that you are trying to lock the doors while one is open. Maybe you have a short somewhere? If you press "unlock" on the fob does the beeping stop?

No when I try to lock either using the door or the remote there is not a response. It is like the car thinks the keys are still in the ignition. Any help is much appreciated.

As sonerick said, if any door, whether you realize it or not, is not completely shut and you try to lock it using the key faub, that constant alarm will go off alerting you to that.
If all the doors are shut and you're sure of that, then there may be a short somewhere or the faub could be bad if the car is not responding to it at all. You could try a new battery anyway, they're only a couple bucks, and you could rule that out.
