Can't Decide: JBA or new SPC UCAs

I am running the JBA UCA's as well. My favorite feature is that they're red! JK but I do like the red no doubt. They look great under there and the truck drives awesome. I have to say installing them was a PITA though... Anyone else have as much trouble getting those washers in?? I gave up on the passenger side and only installed one of the washers. We tried for hours and could not get it in. The driver side went in much easier. On top of that I installed the thinner washers on the inside. The thicker ones seemed IMPOSSIBLE. Seems to be working fine without it. Time will tell I guess.
FWIW I am running 285/70r17 Ridge Grapplers on TRD Pro Wheels and the tires does not rub the arm.

JBA will never do a group buy. I’ve spoke. With the owner at length. He feels that when you make a high quality product and sell it for a fair price, there’s no reason to discount said product.
I don’t disagree either.
When I head over to the JBA headquarters, I’ll be sure to post pics of our visit. They’re less than an hour from my house.

I especially like how they look with the red toytec coils....it's even the same shade of red....not sure about spc, but jba has 3 greaseports, as you can see in the picture....

That is understandable, I do the same with my business so I get it BUT it's great marketing given so many people opt for the SPC and the build quality looks way better on the JBA for the same price..
Do they have any resellers?

Super thankful for this post and all of the comments! I have been researching UCAs for literally a week now and after reading through these comments I am going to purchase through JBA. I like how they have been progressively updating their design and adding grease fittings too.
I will just paint the plates myself so they dont have any issues with surface rust down the road.

JBA balljoints now come with a Cerakote finish so they won’t rust.

I had a rust issue.
Emailed them.
Bought new ones and paid for shipping.
Shipped the old ones back with the enclosed shipping label.
When JBA got them back, I was refunded the full amount and shipping.
So it was super easy to get free replacements. And the new ones are ceracoated, as others have said.

FWIW - I just got back this weekend from a week on the Rubicon trail. The JBA arms held up fine. Considering how rough that is - if they hold up there, they're good enough for anything I'm likely to do. Mine are the standard duty version. It's a rough run through there in a 5th gen. For example the TRD Pro aluminum skid plate didn't survive. It's totally trashed after one trip. It held up worse than the OEM steel one did last year. Didn't have a bit of trouble from the JBA arms though. Can't say they're better than any others - but they're durable enough for as much abuse as I think my 4Runner can realistically handle.

Any specific grease you recommend? I just received my email from JBA to re grease.
Mine have been good and I've had them for about 5k miles and a few months of a Chicago winter. I have some light rust showing on the flat portion of the ball joint. Other than a little dust and grease, they look like new.
2.5" up front and aligned to factory specs, couldn't be happier with them.

Another vote for JBA. I have their standard duty high caster arms on my 14 Trail. My alignment numbers (and feel) are about perfect now. I also had the rusting ball joint issue, but like others have noted, it was taken care of in short order.
They have updated their website since I bought mine, and give a bit more info on what tire sizes will fit without issue. I had 255/80s on stock trail wheels. When I bumped up to 285/70s, I had to run spacers (I'm a big fan of the stock wheels) to get sidewall clearance from the uca. No big deal.

I’m happy with JBAs too..
What exactly is this rust issue and how can you tell? Noises? Is the ball joint itself rusting??

The outside rusted. They had an issue with the BJ coating and surface rust. Now they cerakote them. It’s a treatment used for firearms.
I got a new pair free after mine rusted, basically. Just had to pay for them and they refunded me when they got the old pair back. They paid shipping both ways.
Excellent customer service.
They had no rust inside.
