So I am planning on getting the 06 facelift with the new grill and headlights. Is there any modification that needs to be done so they can work on a 04?

I would also be planning on doing a Satoshi grill which I have found several forum posts on how to do it.

The bumpers on the 03-05 go up higher and don't work without modification to either the Grille or the bumper

I haven't done an update in a while so thought I would.

I'm not going to do anything to my runner till after the new year, to much is going on right now with family, school work, friends, etc.

Just a quick question, for those who have Bajaracks, did your's come with a cargo net? Just curious, I don't have one so I'm planing on ordering that at least.

Last weekend I went out to the ranch and went mudding... more like my dad did.

Here are some pics, He got stuck so I had to get the Jeep and push him out.

Wow time has gone by.

I haven't been on my build thread for months because I fell out of love with my 4runner. :(

The time I went mudding in my grandpa's jeep, (See above) something clicked inside about ditching the runner and getting a jeep because my 4runner does not have 4WD.

After many arguments, fights, pricing, and the simple fact of time, I have fallen out of love with Jeeps again. (Bi-polar). Now I'm looking at BMW M3 E46's for college! :hungry:

Anyway back to the 4Runner. I haven't done too much over the past several months. I got rid of the seat covers, mud flaps, added/deleted stickers, and relocated my Antenna mount up higher but thats about it.

I am planning on finishing my build this year, that way I'll be happy, not go Jeep crazy and start planning for an E46 M3, and converting it to a CSL. :wow:

1. Cargo net for my Baja Rack:
I have had the need in the time i've had it to use it but I do not feel comfortable without securing my cargo down. If anyone knows a good cargo net that will fit I would appreciate it.

2. Sliders:
I have little need for them except for the fact I hate the running boards (don't know why I haven't gotten rid of them yet) and I want a place to jack up my runner with a Hi-Lift. Which goes to #3.

3. Hi-lift with rack mount:
I want one because it looks bad-ass to have it on the rack and so that I can jack up the runner when I need to. I have also thought that if the event occurs, I can use it to pry a smashed windshield if someone is in a wreck or some other form of recovery.

4. Proper lift and tires:
Once I run the tread off my Michelin Latitude tires (great tires btw) and get some type of A/T tire. I am preferring BFG. Also I plan to get rid of my spacer lift and get some Bilstien 5100's and new coils.

5. Satoshi Grill:
This is going to be a lot of work but I think it would be very cool thing to have as I dislike the grill on the 03'-05' 4Runners.

6. RCI front skid plate:
The stock skid plate is battered and is pretty much gone. I am going to order a new one from RCI to replace it.

Thats about it. Will report when things start getting underway.

I toyed with getting an e46 m3 before I got my runner. Basically, unless you're filthy ****ing rich or daddy will pay for it and all the maintenance; I wouldn't even think about it. With a 10+ year old m3, buying the car is only half of it, keeping it on the road is another story.

Yea I've done tons of research on the E46 since I was about 8 in 2006. I know what to look for maintenance wise, the S54 won't take trashing like a Toyota engine, subframe, etc. I plan on getting the 6 speed, staying away from SMG because the pumps fail, and its crazy expensive.

I may not get it right away, I do plan on getting a job to pay for things on it. I already have a summer job lined up so I'm saving what I can. I may not get it right away, but my dad would rather see me drive a BMW than an American Car. I don't know what his beef with american cars is, he has never owned one.

Is Toyota an American car?

Is Toyota an American car?

He bought a Lexus GX470 because he wanted a "reliable car" that was more posh than a Toyota. I told him over and over and OVER again to get a new 4Runner, loaded, and mod it.

He wouldn't listen to me. Got one and hates it, and it gives him so many problems.

The reason? It's built in Canada. NOT Japan like other Lexus and Toyotas.

My Grandpa has a Tundra from when they started making them in San Antonio, its bullet proof. Never has problems. TONS of torque and pulling power from the V8. Its Awesome.

Well if its a Tundra and Tacoma then yes? Because they are made here???

I think he mean companies like Chrysler (dislike a lot), GM (good engines) and Ford (I like the new F-150's a lot) as American.

Oh ok you were mainly talking about the actual American companies! I know that a while ago the Tundra was the most American built truck that year but I can't remember the specifics but I still don't think that qualifies it as an American car. Although I'd much rather everything be made in the home country and shipped over. I know alot of the German cars are assembled here but the parts aren't necessarily made here. Sorry to here about the lexus I would have said the same as you. You buy all that fancy stuff and it's no different plus it likes to break 2x as fast.

I don't know why he dislikes American car companies so much. I know we don't approve the bailouts of GM and Chrysler. But I think he is impartial with Ford. Again he has never owned an American car so I don't know why he has a bias.

He travels across the state ALOT and on his 14' GX he already has 22,000 miles on it. And yes, things are already wearing down. Also I really dislike that you have to do EVERYTHING though the dash computer! A/C, radio, everything it seems to be is computer controlled. That is something that really grinds my gears.

Yea those newer luxury cars just don't seem very practucal anymore. I've got a friend's parent who leases a brand new porshe cayenne turbo every two years and the last two have had navi screen failure which was like 5k to fix the whole thing. Of course if you can lease a porsche it isn't a big deal but it's the principle. And then another friend's dad only drives gm(mainly chevy but his wife has a buick) he absolutely hates fords but has never owned one. Never made since to me but sometime in his life it must have rubbed him the wrong way. hahahaha some people just have their opinions and theirs nothing you can do
