Well if I was sitting next to two vehicles, one fully loaded with all the leather trimmings and comfort accoutrements and the other less so, I would pick the one with the goodies too. Pretty easy to understand that.
I have yet to see a Limited in one of these comparisons, only the SR5 and Trail. Yet all the others seem to be the "Limited" versions of the competitors.

In the same Motor Trend they tested a Land Rover against a Overland Grand Cherokee. The Land Rover won this one. It is obviouse this forum is partial to the Toyota just like the Jeep Forums are partial to Jeeps. 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee vs. 2010 Land Rover LR4 - Comparison - Motor Trend

I can't stand these car magazines anymore let alone the reviews. The authors are so focused on their creative writing to make sure the articles are entertaining to read that they lose sight on the purpose of conveying an objective review.

Car and Driver always has tests where the winner should not have won. Its almost guaranteed that if a BMW is involved in any test that it will win.
I have read articles comparing sports cars and the fastest best handling car doesn't win because another slower car has a nicer interior with more back seat room.
Smart people know that Toyota is a better buy then Jeep.

First and foremost - who gives a flying #$%* what any writer/reviewer says about the 4Runner?
Like 453030, I too don't make decisions based on reviews from car mags or websites.
Just out of curiosity... do any of you really care what some random dude writes about the 4Runner? Certainly doesn't make me love my 4R any less.

Right at the top of the magazine should give you insight, "CAR" and driver. Anything that drives like a car will probably win. BTW, I don't like how most cars drive. And like it has been said long ago, that mag really lost their street cred a while back.
I just hope toyota doesn't listen to them or jeep and decide to go uni-body or IRS on us.

Yes, seriously! I'm mostly referring to all the options inside the vehicle. Based on all the options they cram into the Overland it's closer to a Range Rover Sport. Don't get me wrong it's still a bucket and I would never own one. Funny thing is I read an article recently where someone said the 2010 Limited is the poor man's Range Rover Sport. Funny!

Too late, they IRS'ed the Sequoia. Not on the 5th, maybe on the 6th or maybe we won't see the 4Runner after the 5th.
If there isn't a 6th gen, hopefully Toyota won't destroy the 4Runner name by sticking it on a 3rd gen Highlander like Ford did with the Explorer.
Funny, indeed! An average Range Rover Sport owner will be the poor man in the long run since he'll have to deal with all of its maintenance/mechanical issues. I've owned/own these types of vehicles; my wife likes them:lookout:.
They can have their "blingmobile". I see plenty of them in my neck of the woods. IMHO there is nothing as versatile, cool, and reliable as the 5th gen T4R. It's my new favorite ride!

I was at Honda last week finding out how much front struts would be for the CR-V I'm selling, and they were chatting about my 4Runner parked out front. I said I needed to go from the CR-V because I wanted something more truck like. Then I absentmindedly asked when Honda was going to make a pick-up truck. I almost guffawed when they pointed me towards the Ridgeline. It only took one look underneath to see it is as wimpy as it looks.

The Ridgeline is a joke. It may work for someone who doesn't need a real truck. I'd imagine the Ridgeline's audience is for people who have an Accord and they need more trunk space.

You are pretty much correct but the Ridgeline does what Honda promises is does and it is a pretty versatile truck that can handle mild trails and I even got to drive one and it does have power and handling to go along with the extra versatility of the small bed plus it has a locking trunk in the bed and even lighting. It's the styling I can't get past but it's more useful than say most small 2wd trucks. And Honda sells alot of them.

If I could only have one vehicle, and I had to choose between a small cab Ranger or the Ridgeline, I'd have to go with the Honda because I have kids. The styling would kill me every time I got near it, though.
Yes, and we can't blame Honda for making money off people's tastes.
On an unrelated note, there is a contest at my supermarket where the grand prize is a 2010 Ford Escape hybrid. I don't know what I'd do if I won it. I would not drive that over my 2001 Runner.

My wife drives an 07' escape, which I drive now and then, not a bad little vehicle and perfect for her.....however...... I had a rental Escape Hybrid, WOW, major difference between the 2! The Hybrid feels/is top heavy, you got around the corner and it rolls, enough where the back opposite tires want to lift, scared the *%$& out of me the 1st time I took a corner in it. I would NEVER own one or rent one again. We got home and I took hers out to compare, night and day. I do not know if it has to do with the battery weight in the Hybrid, but they have to fix it.
