Catalytic converter cross reference

I need to know what other models & years of Toyota vehicles use the same catalytic converter as for my 1985 4-Runner so that I can contact the local junk yards and purchase a genuine used original Toyota stainless steel cat as the replacement steel one that I bought 3 years ago is roughted through and the old original that came with the truck from Japan back in 1985 lasted 16 years,not bad huh?.
I am on slow dial up so I cannot download the free Toyota EPC catalogs from the below links and to use their part # back to model & years cross reference to come up with the required info.
So if anyone could tell me which other models & NEWER years of Toyota vehicles use the same catalytic converter Toyota # 17400-38070 I would be gratefull.Thanks in advance.

I have been thinking on this: I think you should be fine if you just find a vehicle with the same engine displacement, or larger, and same exhaust diameter. A cat is going to be a mass-produced part, so there should not be too many variations on it. Any pickup part should fit your T4R with the same engine, and I would think most cars would be close or at least servicable.

The criteria for a cat is going to be the same for both car and truck platforms: airflow and the catalystic process. The car and truck engines are usually the same with minor differences such as intake positioning, valve and cam specs for a different power band and different oil pans to fit a different chassis. The capacities of the engine are the same.

So: you then need to find a cat with the same inlet and outlet diameters as your tubes, it has to handle the same flow rate for the gasses and be the same length to fit where yours was. I would bet a trip to a local parts store or exhaust shop would be able to compare some applications. I checked my old parts books, but I don't have an exhaust parts book anymore...bummer.

I may download the files you posted, but it is a bit more involved than I have the bandwidth for right now.

Even a tape measure and a trip to the boneyard should reveal some interesting results.

I can tell you this the one on my 90 4X4 pickup looked just like the one on my 93 4runner.

I would go to your parts counter at toyota and ask them if they used a universal cat. for the 1st/2nd gen SUV's/trucks.

then go to the junk yard or try E-bay.
