Cause of ABS light to come on?

Could any of these things cause the abs light to turn on? I just had a remote start keyless entry installed. When started if i put my foot on the brakes before I put the key In it will shut off. I also just put on led tail lights. Or could it be the age of the 4runner? Should I have this checked by the dealer ASAP or wait till I have the chance next week?

I installed LED reverse and tails - they worked without issue for about a year, but then I started having strange things happen. The blinkers would kill the cruise control (as if I had tapped the brake) and cause the RPMs to jump slightly, and the ABS light started coming on as well. Replaced the LEDs with regular bulbs and all those issues disappeared.

Did you install an led 3rd brake light or put an led bulb in the 3rd brake light? If so, that's probably your problem.

Yeah installing led tail lights with the led third light usually causes the abs to come on. You need to add a resistor across the power and ground of the third brake light. Vleds sells them in a pack of two but you only need one.

Yes I did put a 3rd brake light LED on last week. So put a ground and resistor on the 3rd brake light and everything should be ok? The light only come on when I put it in drive.

I'm not really sure whether you would need the 10w or the 25w. I can check which one i have tomorrow. But you take one wire end of the resistor and connect it to the ground wire of the third brake light and then the other side of the resistor to the power wire of the third brake light. And that should stop your abs light from coming on.

can't comment either way on the LED brake light conversion conversation, but I know I've been running a VIPER remote starter and haven't had any issues with the ABS light coming on because of it; my remote starter runs the same way that yours does.

99.9% chance it's because of the LEDs. It's too much of a coincidence that the abs light would come on right after you put them in. The abs light comes on kind of like newer cars have a bulb out warning light. Because of the LEDs, the truck isn't seeing a high enough of resistance like a normal bulb so it's sees you having all your brake light bulbs out and turns on the abs light as a warning. If you were to only have the tail lights or only the third brake light it most likely wouldn't turn on because it would see some resistance from the other bulbs but when you pair them together the resistance is too low and that's why you need the resistor.

I'm not quite sure what you're asking. But it doesn't matter which end you attach to the wires. There are two wires that go to the third brake light. There are two wires that come off the resistor. You just splice one wire from the resistor to one wire of the third brake light and then the other wire of the resistor to the other wire of the third brake light.
