CB ant. mount

The mount must be grounded. The metal part of the antenna adapter has to touch the metal of the mount (sand off the paint in the way, bare metal to metal). Also, where the mount is screw in where the bumpstop is, sand off the paint on the mount so the screw head is directly touching the metal. The threads of the screw contact the metal of the body and ground.

You could even ground the mount easier by drilling a screw into the mount, attaching a wire to that and running it to a good ground point (IE: Ground screw for the left tail light.)

Will do. Thanks for the help. Driffter sorry about mucking up your tread:/ You make a great product and even my wife who was leery of this mod thinks it looks great.

Thank you!

I received my cb antenna mount Fri, 2/11. Painted it with the same metallic black I used to paint my emblems followed by clear coating and it turned out great. Mounted my 4ft antenna, routed the coax to the front behind the dash, took the dash apart and dremeled the back of the ashtray off and inserted my Midland-1001LWX, CB w/NOAA.

Bout to get my antenna in the mail, and I've been reading about proper grounding...anyone figure out a good way to ground this mount yet?

unless I also missed something...where are you guys routing the antenna cable? Especially those installing the CB in the ashtray slot? Can you explain how/where you route it from there to the mount?

Anyway, the mount looks sick. When I get a CB, I will definitely be sending a Paypal notice to Drifter33 - awesome job man. Very professional.

Through the dash, behind the pedals(under the rug there), under the plastic trim on the floor from front seat to cargo area, then my laziness kicked in and ran it under the cargo mat(until I feel like getting it behind the panels back there). I made a small slit in the weather stripping where i slipped the wire in through the hatch. Then you just plug it into the antenna stud and you are good to go. Wire ties make things easier.

Same exact thing I did. Ill try to post up pics later today.

can you put me down for one of these as well? i met ChildrenOfBodom from another forum of ours and he reffered me to get a hold of you! i like the product!!!!

finally got it on, looks awesome with just 2 coats of cheapo black paint. noticed i really have to slam the balls out of the hatch though is this just how it is now?

I would like to order one this week, I found myself stuck in the deepest darkest backwoods of Southern New Jersey recently and had no cellphone reception, getting a CB in the next couple of days and this mount looks perfect!

Installed

Finally got it painted and installed today! Here's some pics. By the way, I had to mount it without the bumpstop b/c my hatch wouldn't close with it on. Learned that the hard way and scraped off the paint on the inner side trying to close it.

Mad 69, you might want to look into a ham radio instead for range purposes. but this mount should still work for a ham radio antenna.

and drifter, any left? i want to pick one of these up! just got all my cb gear and this is all i need to finish it off.
