CB ant. mount

Should we send you the money upfront?

Driffter, I hope all is well. How is the new cutting rig coming along? Would it help speed up production if we sent you the money via PayPal up front? I'm willing to. I just received my Uniden CB radio, 18' coax, 4' Firestick and mounts so I'll be starting in on the installation this weekend. Can't wait to get the antena mounted up.
 
Got everything from the radio to the SWR tester! All that is left is the mount!:D

hey is it still possible to buy one of these mounts? I have a mailing address in Washington so shipping would be for the US thanks
 
Very nice mount! I was just thinking about how to mount my antenna on my new to me 4runner. I'd also like to get on this oh-so-secretive list! What is your general lead time?
 
Hey I want to be on the list too! I'm tired of using my 1988 handheld CB. You got a lot of demand for your bracket. Let me know if need a production worker. :lookout:
 
Hey guys, got a question for the more experienced (then me) radio guys. When i installed my drifter antenna mount, i ran a ground wire from the mount to where the tail light is grounded to the body and shared that ground screw. My problem is that when i use my brakes and the brake lights come on i get a bunch of static and noise from the cb and the rx signal strength meter gets pegged. Has anyone experienced this?

Im wondering if i should run the ground wire to a dedicated point on the body or chassi, sand the mount/location to bare metal (was hoping not to) or maybe look into the power supply side up at the head unit.

Thanks for any suggestions, im not really familiar with cb issues.

In case it matters, im running a cobra 18 wx st 2, 90' adapter, 18' coax, and a 4' firestick.

What kind of bulbs are you using for brake lights? If LED, try swapping to a regular bulb. Either that, or experiment with other ground locations. I get a similar interference issue with my LED reverse lights. As seldom as I reverse, I have not bothered with it.

Thanks OffRoadGuy, i wasnt aware that an ohm meter could verify proper grounding but makes perfect sense.

In the end i dont think grounding was the issue but good to rule that out.

1blink you are the man! Thank you. I do in fact have leds on my tails and this was the issue. what i found is that with the hazards flashing and the bulb out of the tail light, moving it closer and further from the antenna would give varying levels of noise/interference. im guessing the led bulb emits some sort of electrical interference field that the antenna is picking up. i swapped the regular bulb back in and the problem goes away. the led reverse and running lights dont seem to bother so i left them. So now, all tails are led except the running brake bulb on the mount side. the difference between that and the led on the other side isnt very noticeable (to me) so i can live with it.

Thanks a ton for your suggestion, it would have taken me a lot of time and effort before i made it to the bulbs for troubleshooting, it wouldn't have occurred to me. I wonder if theres a way to shield the led from emitting interference, hmm...
