CB antenna mounts????

1. Do they make mounts for our 4Runner?
2. If not, how do yall have yours mounted and where, and with what?
My first attempt was "good" except it last 1 day, the antenna snapped off on the highway due to strong winds plus going 70-80mph. So i need a cheap easy way to mount one.

Ive pm'ed ODL (on back order), driffter33 (No response yet), and tr4life (Doesn't make them anymore). Any more people who make a CB mount like these?

I know ToyTech is a re-seller for the ODL ones. Check out their sites and see if they still have them in stock. I looked last week and they did.

I made a mount similar to the drifter/ODL mount, same style, same steel, and scrapped it for a few reasons:

The sheet metal where the mount bolts to is a single thin layer. This allows the mount to flex a lot and could eventually crack the sheet metal.

The mount itself rubs against the edge of the hatch, and unless you pad the hatch edge with tape or edge trim the paint will wear.

Bolting the mount under the hatch bumper stop moves it out 1/8" throwing off your hatch alignment when closed. Panel gaps bug me.


I ended up making this mount instead:

I added a spring to the antenna but it has some slight flex to it. I'll weld a brace on the side once I get around to it. Probably just a small strip of 1/8" flatbar cut to fit the contour of the mount to partially box it in.

Norris that looks pretty good but I like the clean look of the ones on the door jam of the hatch.

damn i must have got one of the last ones ToyTec had then and i just ordered it like two weeks ago. um you could alwasy go to a fab shop and have them cut and gusset one for you. might be a little $ but you get the mount you want lol

Personally, I'm tired of seeing an antenna or an empty bracket hanging out, and equally tired of cleaning under my current magnet mounts, so I'm currently re-configuring my setup. I like the NMO mounts because you can use a variety of antenna types on the same mount, and I'm going to suck it up and drill the hole in the roof. It's the cleanest, least fussy and best location for groundplane.

Not mine, but you get the idea:

When the antenna is not in use, you just install the raincap as seen to the left and right.

I just ordered my ODL mount from Toytec on Monday. They are sold out of the passenger sides and there is no ETA on when they'll be back in stock. I got a driver side but I'm pretty positive it was one of the last ones that they had.

I had the same thing when I ordered mine. No pass, just driver side available. Wouldn't hurt to call them
