Retrofit Source has a great DS2 Morimoto kit for just over $225 IIRC. I got all the gear for my retrofit from DDM for about the same price. Additional cost is paint, wiring, etc but these don't account for much.
Also don't buy cheap crap on Amazon.

Thanks! I have a little more than $300 into them. I ordered this kit with the upgraded projectors, sealant, and upgraded bulb holders for $187 total.

Headlights I used were Depo's off of Amazon for about $44 a piece.
Thanks! Unfortunately in our cold rainy weather here I already got some condensation in them. I pulled them off today and baked them for a few minutes to dry them out and siliconed every possible opening. Anyone else had condensation issues?
The Hella horns are great, I got to honk at someone for the first time a couple days ago!!!

Well 2017 was quite the year for the 4Runner; from getting stolen and recovered to having a pretty thorough mechanical and cosmetic overhaul; I'm pretty happy with how it is sitting at the moment. 2018 will be the year it gets a suspension overhaul and wheels and tires.
Yesterday I spent some time with it. I greased the drive shaft:
I replaced the rear wiper mount with a new part, mine was looking pretty grungy:
And I finally replaced the rear 5.25 speakers. I didn't document any of the stereo install but the outer door skins have been fully dynomatted along with most of the rear hatch.
Factory vs New:
I taped the vapor barrier back up after removing part of it to get the dynomat in:

Was there any special aiming that you had to do or was all the aiming from those goofy aiming screws?I've spent the last two days doing a projector retrofit. Everything came from the retrofit source and seems of good quality. This was my second retrofit job and each time has been a learning experience to say the least lol.
I started with a set of DEPO's with glass lenses, really impressed with the quality. Here they are stripped down and sanded ready for paint:
Here is the mockup and getting the projector mounted. Instead of the flimsy H4 conversion mount I decided to bolt these straight into the headlight assembly. This install would have been way easier without doing this but these projectors are mounted SOLID!
After getting everything fitted it was time to paint the assembly and shroud. I wrapped the projector in aluminum tape to prevent any light leakage.
Here it is with the shroud on:
On the car; I like this pic seeing the horns and the tranny cooler :whoo:
And all back together, don't mind the dented bumper, that will be replaced soon.
Tomorrow I need to spend some time getting them fine tuned in and adjusted right but the cutoff looks great, just a bit too low. Will follow up with pictures soon!

Yeah, you try and aim them on the car hooked up without the lenses on them first before you bolt them down. Then once you put them all back together you do a final adjustment with the aiming screws, they actually work pretty well to dial it in.

Retrofit 2.0
Hi everyone. So...I wasn't happy with the look of the retrofit so I re-did it.
This time I used the following:
Mini DS2 Projectors
Morimoto ballasts and H4 harness
Depo Headlights
Apollo 3.0 Shrouds
Profile Pivot Halos
4500K Lights
I had Paintscratch mix the silver cladding paint in a spray can and used that for the shrouds.
Anyway, I'm very happy with how it turned out. After seeing so many great retrofit projects here I was underwhelmed with my first attempt, this one is MUCH better. The old shrouds looked way too tiny in such a big headlight.
The halo rings can go either white or amber.
White:
They match the LED turn signal lights almost perfectly:

I wired the halo's to an on-off-on switch. I tapped into the cigarette lighter since it is a switched power. Will replace the switch with something better looking but it was the only on-off-on I could find locally.
It's a time consuming project and I have more time and money into these now than I care to admit but I'm pretty stoked with how they turned out!
