CD Eject on start

Twice now I have jumped in my '06, turned on the ignition (letting go of the key so that it finishes by itself...love that), and right then the CD player starts ejecting all discs. At first I thought I had hit the Eject button, but it did it again a few days later. In both cases, the unit power was off.

Anyone seen this happen?

I noticed that the unit will try to eject all CDs if it thinks its laser arm or magazine is jammed.

I would just take it to the dealer and have them get you a new headunit...

The unit says "Toyota" on it and is the 6 disc in-dash model that also plays MP3s. I've been trying to recreate this problem and of course it hasn't done it yet. I could swear that when this happened, the display briefly said "All Eject" or something similar. Given that I've only had the vehicle a month, I'll probably just take it in and have them swap the unit out.

MEGA BUMP...

Different person, same issue. My 06 SE upon startup starts beeping and ejecting each CD in the headunit. While this is going on, the HU basically has no function. The display has nothing (usually, yesterday it had about 6 solid blocks starting from right to left across the screen). No buttons function, trying to cycle power does nothing. Whatever input it was last on when I turned it off functions (for example, I left with iPod in AUX, so this played, and volume control worked). Eventually, after maybe 10 minutes functionality and screen returns to normal. I'd say this has happened maybe 4 or 5 times now. I feel that it occurs when it is hot outside (Texas, 95ish degrees) and after the car cools down is when it begins to function.

Anyways, is this a known issue? Anyone else ever come across this problem? Any ideas for a remedy?

P.S. its a 6 disc changer, no JBL badging though, so I don't know about that.

Hmm...did you all see the post just before yours?

This is a know problem with the radios. If you do a search on the board you may find other threads talking about this issue as well.

Well I tried to be a good forum goer and used the search button for "CDs Ejecting" and this one seemed applicable. As soon as I clicked new posts I saw the "radio trouble" thread. But yeah, haven't seen a workaround posted so it seems SOL.
