CD's stuck in the changer!!

We have a '10 4Runner Limited with all options except 3rd row....


Is there a way to reset the CD changer to get the stuck CD's out? I've tried holding the eject button for several seconds, turning off the stereo, disconnecting the battery, etc... with no luck. Any other suggestions? All other audio sources work.

I called the dealer and they said at I need to bring it in to have it diagnosed, but he didn't know of any reset measures to suggest for me to do on my own. Also, according to the dealer they don't fix the stereos in house. They order a new stereo unit altogether.

The vehicle is under warranty, but the CD's in the changer are all books on CD from the library that are due back in 2 weeks. The dealer says the stereo takes about 4-6 weeks to order....bummer

Thanks. I read that thread before I posted and that's where I got the troubleshooting techniques. I'm having the same problems as the person in that thread and the dealer will replace the stereo under warranty, but I'd like to see if there's a hard factory reset that can be done of some sort to eliminate a trip to the dealer.

My wife had the same problem. The dealer said they did not work on audio eq. but said he would try anyway. The technician was able to remove the CD and reprogram the player in about 20 minutes. We bought the car out of town but took it to a local dealer (under warranty) so you may try another dealer that is willing to try.

The problem is that she was putting the CD in too quickly. The technician said that when the Nav. system flips down there is an orange light. Wait until the light turns green(about two seconds).

If this doesn't help may be I can get the technician's name and phone for a personal contact.

This is way late in the game, but I just bought a used 2006 with the NAV / E7008 4 CD and 1 DVD (NAV) head unit and I'm having the same stuck CD problem. :mmph: If you ever figured out how the technician got the CDs out so quickly I'd love to know.

SUCCESS!!!! Read online a bit and a couple web pages talked about a pin hole in the front of the CD loading door that could be used to access the interior of the CD player a bit. Futzed around with it a bit with a straightened paper clip and the touch screen eject icons then.. one CD came out! .., then another!!.. then a third :dance:. Finally, after the finding the other pin hole on the opposite side of the loading door, was able to get the last one out! Woohoo!! :bluejump:
A couple CDs showed some signs of a little scratching at their margin by the paperclip, but I can live with that for a functioning CD player.

I think my problem started from loading too many CDs too fast as jhebert9 described. I do faintly recall a blinking orange light as I excitedly loaded all four CDs in, but not so much a green one... hwell:

So, then I loaded JUST ONE and it worked! Played and could be ejected. :dancin:
Think I'll roll with just one for now and gradually work up the courage to add more. I still would like to be able to remove the front plate as Uod describes in another thread, in order to see what's happening behind the loading door, but for now I'm content with just having a functioning CD player. Posting here to follow up as I haven't seen this solution posted for the E7008 WMA MP3 4 CD NAV Head Unit on this forum. Mine was in a 4th Gen 2006 Limited (Ltd). Shouldn't matter what vehicle this Head Unit is in, as all would seem to have the same CD door system. I'm also guessing that other Head Units have this feature. *The pin holes in the CD door were behind the black dust brushes in front of the CD entry door, so they couldn't be seen unless you moved the brushes out of the way. Hope this helps someone else dealing with the same problem! Apparently these E7008 Head Units have a history of this problem.

I fixed my cd player, to full operation. By simply vacuuming the cd injection opening on the cd player. The problem was just dust in the cd player. I hope this simple fix works for you.
