I ordered the back one from amazon and hopefully it comes it this week so that I can switch it out this weekend..

aside from optima, what would you recommend for a battery? My die hard is almost 9 years old and I would like to replace it before winter comes..

Only the front one affects MPG, the back one just sets codes--that don't affect the running of the engine. You may need new stainless nuts from the dealer to install them, most of us that see salt do, and a lot that don't see salt do, too.

On batteries, the Optima was the last one I bought. Here is a recent thread with some good info: Linky. I'd probably look at Odyssey and Diehard Platinum if I had to get another one. I've also heard good things about the dealer replacement batts. I wish we could get the factory Panasonics--mine lasted 7+ years and is my lifetime battery record holder. I hate cheapo batteries, they always crap out at the worst times.

Do you guys have threaded posts instead of bolts for the O2 sensors? I had 2 threaded posts on the rear. One side, the whole post came out, the other side I completely ripped the nut threads off, and couldn't get the post out due to the rust, so I had to clean it with a thread die and put a new nut on that side. I just used a grade 10 (grade 8 US) nut on the one side, and a grade 10 bolt on the other that I got from autozone. How well will they stand up to rust?

Yes, they are held on with studs (aka 'threaded posts') and nuts. In Boston, your Grade 8 will probably be shot by the time you need to change the sensor again, but so will the dealer stainless. I use the stainless because Toyota designed it that way and they are softer than the studs, so they seem to crumble off nicely leaving the stud surprisingly intact. But we get less snow (and presumably salt) than you do. Don't forget the anti-seize, copper is probably better given the heat but I used regular.

Mine is a 2001 Limited with the V6. I just bought it about a month ago, and everything was fine. It does have 175,000 miles but only 1 owner who had every single service done at the dealership. I parked it at my house and it sat for a week when I went on vacation.

Then when I got back, I started it up and then saw the check engine light. Along with the VSC OFF and TRAC OFF lit up??

Tightened the gas cap already and reset the ECU (negative battery terminal) but light keps coming back. The truck runs fine though. I need to go to Autozone tomorrow and see what code I'm throwing.

Change your front (A/F) sensor. Unless it's new, then check it's wiring.

Hate to bump an old thread but im throwing the PO125 code. Should i change the front 02 sensor? I already have the thermostat but from my understanding that wont take care of the code?
