center console lighting

Regarding the three round knobs in the center console which control the climate system, the bulb on the fan speed knob is out. Could someone please explain how I can go about taking down the assembly and changing the bulb. The bulb itself costs something like $5 but the dealer wants $200 for the job.

EASY...
open your little storage thingy (useless thing that opens under the HVAC controls) Then pull that storage thing up (be firm but steady) it should then be able to be taken out and you can put it aside. You will then see near the center top behind where the storage thing was a screw. Unscrew that screw. then greab the HVAC controls from the bottom, and pull them out. The panel should pop out. Again be firm but steady and gentle. Unplug the wire connector holding it in, then you can look at the back of the controls. The white (maybe light grey) small circles (centimeter or so diameter) are the bulbs, you can take out whichever one you want with a small flathead screwdriver. Pop in your new bulb, and do all the steps backwards.
Should take you no more than 10 minutes max.

I know these instructions sound long and confusing, but just check it out and you will see what to do, and it is all easy.

I know this thread is old but is very relevant for me right now. My light went out on my fan speed knob. Knowing how to remove that, I pulled it and saw where the bulbs were. I wanted to verify if it was indeed the bulb so I swapped the bulb with the center knob. Then neither of them worked. So I swapped them back and they still both don't work. Are the bulbs somehow single use? It seems there are two ways the bulbs can go back in there and I tried it both ways. Any ideas?

is there a way the other ones burned out as well? i was fiddling with my lights a little while ago and they were all fine, but then i ended up burning two out by messing with it. now i dont know if they burned out or i broke them. but either way i had to change 2 bulbs when none of them were "out".
