Like I said, I'm down in the 757 and REALLY trying to figure out still just yet how I can make this date. Work travel is a bit insane right now but I've been working hard on my new to me 98 for two months now and I want to get in a trip so badly. I'll confirm as soon as I can guys. My plan would be to drive up with whoever Sat morning and camp Sat night, possibly get into something Sunday and head home. I'll have a navigator, but not sure yet it if will be a buddy, my wife, or even my 11 year old daughter.

ATTENTION ALL: Please see link below. This GWNF website says that permits are required to use the OHV trails. If you want to risk it than go for it, but I swear, every time I do something dumb a Park Ranger is there to slap my wrist. Its literally insane... in other words: since I will be in the group we WILL meet at least one pissed off, cranky Park Ranger. You have been warned.

I am planning to run Peters Mill on Sunday. The Little Fort Campground is literally right off the PMR so if we can set up camp before nightfall we can check it out Saturday PM and then run the length of it Sunday. Let me know what you guys think. Its not the Ritz (no running water FYI) but convenience wins the day. Plan B: Sleep in the 4Runner if the camp is full.

Just to make sure theres no confusion, you are talking about peters mill and the plan for sunday correct? The plan for saturday, at flag pole, is still on as planned and that run does not require a permit?
And just to second his link, i know for sure that peters mill requires a permit to run the trails.

Yes - I'm talking about doing Peters Mill on Sunday and I would listen to hearno on the Flag Pole run since he is familiar with it.
I would rather be safe than sorry. Like I said, with my luck, we'll run into a whole passle of Park Rangers during our excursion.
I assumed that the GWNF OHV Trail system was all inclusive, but it could be that the Peters Mill Run is more heavily travelled which always brings increased regulations.

Oh yeah, on more thing. I'm anticipating cell reception to be nill while in the GWNF. If anybody in the group has been thinking about a CB radio install now is the time to pull the trigger. A friend of mine got one for $200 OTD (equipment and installation). If you choose to install your own (NOT DIFFICULT) you can get a nicer radio model and spend around $150 for everything you need.
In a group this size it will be nice to have communication. At a minimum, we will want to have the leading and trailing runners in communication. Does anybody else have a CB radio?

There will be absolutely no phone service out there. Even when we got off the trail at PM and onto the back roads we had no service, no maps, no direction to go. So make sure you have your route planned when you exit the trail as well as how to find the entrance. CB communication with this group, if it turns out to be big, would be a great thing.
